"A timeless classic..."
British comedy doesn't get any better than this. Love it!
"Impressive!"
I'm not sure what my expectations were when I purchased this audio book but Rob Lowe totally impressed me. What an amazing story teller. His stories have substance and really give you a glimpse into the type of man he is. He is a caring, intelligent man with integrity. I highly recommend this book. If you weren't a fan before or even if you were a fan of him in the 80's, this will totally change your perspective on him and give you a glimpse into the depth of his being. You will not be disappointed. Thank you Rob! Hope to see another book from you in the future!
"Interesting book"
I was expecting a rather nasty tell-all book but feel that Christopher Ciccone gave a very balanced and fair portrayal of Madonna and his relationship with her. I was even surprised at how he seemed to defend some of her actions. Christopher narrates the book himself which makes it more interesting although his delivery is quite monotone. Overall, it's an interesting book but if you are looking for any gossip like details, you won't find it here. It's a mature read and one which is good for passing a quiet afternoon.
"Good read"
It gives you insight into the Kennedy family and why there was such a drive for success. A very good, easy read.
"The best show ever..."
My #1 favourite British Comedy.
"A fan forever..."
My review will be biased in the sense that I am a total Fawlty Towers fan. These episodes are great to listen to if you want some fun on your daily commute :)
"Simply adequate"
The story itself is intersting but gets overshadowed by the overly descriptive language and detail. At points you just want to say "get on with it". I also feel the author's tone is not consistent through out. In some places it seems classically written and in others, slang is used when the "proper" words are expected. It's a short read/listen but I would not recommend it.
"The narrator ruined it..."
This was my first Stephen King novel and likely my last. I found the constant references to people's bodily functions to be rather distracting. What made it worse was the AWFUL narration. The narrator is condescending and uses the most flighty "dumb" voices for the female characters - they almost sound as dumb as the children. TERRIBLE. The story might be ok but it was an absolute STRUGGLE to finish the book because of my constant desire to tell the narrator to just stop with the silly voices and get on with the story! Very, very distracting.
"Good book - poor narrator"
This was a very interesting book. A quick, easy "read"... The most annoying aspect of the book was the robot like narration. Awful. Could've been a much more enjoyable experience had they selected a more upbeat narrator.
"Great story & excellent narration"
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I had read "The Girl who played with Fire" first not realizing that "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" was the first in the series. I enjoyed this book much more than the second in the series. Great writing and excellent narration make it a recommended "read".
