"Good but not great"
The material is awesome but the length and the dryness of the narration had my mind wandering around a bit. Still a decent read and great history of the guns that helped shape the modern world.
"Outstanding"
If you played the Gears of War series of games listening to this series of books is an absolute no brainer! Unless you are a multiplayer kind of person and didn't play the campaign but I am also assuming those people do not listen to audiobooks.
For those that did like the game story these books fill in the gaps and backstory in an amazing way that make playing the games again more fun. It also endears the characters to you in a way that would play a role in your emotional state as you play.
For anyone who never played or doesn't care about the games the books can be read without ever feeling like you missed out or leaving you confused. They simply stand on their own and enhance the games if you do play.

"Not my usual cup of tea"
I normally do not like much in the way of fantasy and suppose many readers would not classify this as such but it leans more towards it than I normally go for.
That said I finished listening to this and with so much by Orson Scott Card could not wait to get the next one and continue the story. I was really upset when it was not available and I had to wait to see where this story is going.
A must read for any Card fans.
"Good not great"
I really did enjoy this book and may be biased in my opinion based on the other books and the stories in the games but found this to be the weakest link in what is otherwise a great story arc in a very large and fascinating universe.
"Good but not up to the standard Eon set"
I enjoyed this book but at the same time, as it follows Eon, could have stopped there and been fine. I don't think anyone out there would be disappointed by it if they like sci-fi but personally found it lacking that intangible thing that made Eon so much better.
"Very good book"
I have never really read Greg Bear but rather was on the hunt for books narrated by Stefan Rudnicki, my favorite narroator. I am glad I found this book. Very interesting story from a sci-fi and inter-personal relationship point of view.
"Bryson never disappoints"
I have listened to every book Bill Bryson has on Audible starting from his book A Short History of Nearly Everything and this book more of less does for the home what that one did for science.
