Justin and Libby Denbe have the kind of life you’d find in the pages of a glossy magazine: A beautiful 14-year-old daughter. A gorgeous brownstone on a tree-lined street in Boston’s Back Bay neighborhood. A great marriage, admired by all. A perfect life. When investigator Tessa Leone arrives at the crime scene in the foyer of the Denbes’ home, she finds scuff marks on the floor and a million tiny pieces of bright green Taser confetti. The family appears to have been abducted.

DD Warren was not a main character. That being said, the law enforcement characters were all interesting and likable. Even some of the villains were likable. I enjoyed the book. I reserve 4 stars and 5 stars for what I think are in my humble opinion excellent, top notch, edge of my seat, can't put them down books. This was not in that category, but it was entertaining.

The last thing Boston Detective D. D. Warren remembers is walking the crime scene after dark. Then, a creaking floorboard, a low voice crooning in her ear… She is later told she managed to discharge her weapon three times. All she knows is that she is seriously injured, unable to move her left arm, unable to return to work. My sister is Shana Day, a notorious murderer who first killed at fourteen. Incarcerated for thirty years, she has now murdered more people while in prison than she did as a free woman.

This book is not for the squeamish. As always, Lisa Gardner delivers a well written book. Although it was not my favorite, it has a very unusual story and it kept my interest. I will continue to buy the D.D. Warren mystery series.

Munich, 1949: Amid the chaos of defeat, it's a place of dirty deals, rampant greed, fleeing war criminals, and all the backstabbing intrigue that prospers in the aftermath of war. It is also a place where a private eye can find a lot of not-quite-reputable work: cleaning up the Nazi past of well-to-do locals, abetting fugitives in their flight abroad, sorting out rival claims to stolen goods.

I was so surprised at how much I enjoyed this book. I got the mystery that I love and a bit of history mixed in. I am going to have to listen to other books in this series.

This story held my interest from the beginning to the end. Well worth my time and credit.

Short but it was done well. I tend to not buy short books. However, this is a part of the story in a series of books and should not be skipped. It give the reader a good insight into the character of Walt Longmire. The story takes you back to 1988 when he if first elected sherif. It was by accident that this is one of the first books that I bought in the series. I am now going to listen to them all.

On a rainy November day, police detectives Pia Kirchhoff and Oliver von Bodenstein are summoned to a mysterious traffic accident: a woman has fallen from a pedestrian bridge onto a car driving underneath. According to a witness, the woman may have been pushed. The investigation leads Pia and Oliver to a small village, and the home of the victim, Rita Cramer. On a September evening eleven years earlier, two seventeen-year-old girls vanished from the village without a trace.

I think that it was a bit confusing when the narrator did not give much pause when going between the characters and the situations that they were in. You finally figure out who he is talking about and he switches without taking a breath. Then he does it again. You need to really be paying very close attention to this switch-a-roo, as to not get confused to what is taking place and who it is happening to.

I did eventually get into this book, but it took awhile. I do not like like to give away plot or endings about a book. I don't want to be the spoiler. So, if you need a mystery to listen/read, it is will do. Not the greatest but not the worst book that I have listened to.

I spend so much time listening to books and I frequently find that I run out of books. This is a case of "I ran out of books by my favorite authors so now what do I do?" Along comes Craig Johnson and George Guidal. Great combination!

I was so delighted with this book that I now have to get the whole series. I can hardly wait to start with book 1.

Days before the July Fourth holiday and the dedication of One World Trade Center at Ground Zero, an incident aboard a commercial jet flying over the Atlantic Ocean reminds everyone that vigilance is not a task to be taken lightly. But for iconoclastic NYPD detective Jeremy Fisk, it may also be a signal that there is much more to this case than the easy answer of this being just the work of another lone terrorist. Fisk suspects that the event might also be a warning sign that another scheme has been set in motion.

I love most of Dick Wolf's TV shows. I did not find the same excitement or drama in his book. I did not hate it and I did not love it. The book did give me something to listen to while I waited for something better to come along. Frankly, it was forgettable. I finished it a couple of weeks ago, and I cannot tell you anything about it. Could be my memory, but in the year 2000, I listened to "The Lion's Game" by Nelson DeMille, and I still remember it. If you are in a pinch for a good book it will serve until one comes along.

This is like a roller coaster ride with all of the twists and turns that the plot takes. It is indeed a well devised mystery. It kept me guessing, trying to string it all together like a puzzle. To me that is a good thing, making a mystery more enjoyable. I will definitely buy then next in this series.
