DD Warren was not a main character. That being said, the law enforcement characters were all interesting and likable. Even some of the villains were likable. I enjoyed the book. I reserve 4 stars and 5 stars for what I think are in my humble opinion excellent, top notch, edge of my seat, can't put them down books. This was not in that category, but it was entertaining.
I admire Michelle for coming out of the abyss with such a good attitude. She survived the unimaginable. While this is not the great American novel, it makes you stop and think. Personally, these three women deserve the admiration of all of us for surviving the horrific ordeal. I don't think that I could have survived.
I wish only good things for all of them.
I am sorry, but Puller is not measuring up to Reacher or Rapp. This book entertains and keeps your interest. That is the main thing that I need from a book. Possibly, because I am such a Mitch Rapp and Jack Reacher fan, Puller just falls a little short in my humble opinion. I will certainly get the next one in the series.
As I was listening to this book, I was thinking to myself that I miss Dismas and Abe. I am glad for a chance to catch up on their adventures. Personally, I am a legal mystery fan and love the court room dramas. I have all of the books in this series and always look forward to the next installment. This book entertained me and kept me guessing. I look forward to the next one from John Lescroart... I am a fan of this series and will continue to listen to his books. Worth the credit and the time.
While this book did not keep me on the edge of my seat biting my nails, I found that it was a good mystery with a cautionary thread running through it. I think that Harlan Coben did an excellent job in weaving two mysteries together. I recommend it, in my opinion it had good entertainment value.
So many of the listeners gave low marks to this book and I must say that I enjoyed it very much. It is not the suspense filled typical John Grisham book, however is sheds some light on the coal mining industry's destroying the land and the ripple effects that has on the families that live there. I found it fascinating, since I knew nothing about the destructive nature of the coal industry. I thought that the book was well researched and had a good story line. I hope that you enjoy it as much as I did.
One of the best things about a good mystery is trying to figure out "who done it." Surprise endings are my favorite and I was surprised. I thought that I had it figured out and the book let me think that I got it right. Then "SURPRISE!" I was wrong. Good one for sure. I have all of the books written by Gillian Flynn and I have enjoyed them all. I am looking forward to the next book. It is definitely worth the time and the credit. Enjoy!
Dark Places held my interest through every chapter. The ending was a surprise and that always pleases me in a novel. In my humble opinion, this book is well written and well narrated. It definitely is worth the credit and the time.
You get to know generations of this family and it solves a mystery, that leaves you guessing until the very end. It is a family with many secrets that leave you guessing... It was worth my time and credit. I am looking forward to another book by Laura Lippman.
A new Jack Reacher novel is just what I needed, but I kept falling asleep while listening to it. What is wrong with me? I thought it was me and I was getting bored with Reacher. I guess that by reading the other reviews that I am not alone in the observation that this book was boring. I hate to even utter the words boring in relation to a Reacher adventure. I will continue to buy the Reacher series and hopefully the next one is back to his "edge of my seat" "can't put it down" "finished it in as soon as possible" book.
I have been waiting anxiously for the next book in the Andy Carpenter series and I nearly missed it. It was usually in the Mystery/Legal category. I ran out of books to listen to so I happened to go to Mystery/Suspense (a category I do not often visit) and there is was! I love Grover Gardner as the narrator. To me he is Andy. There is always some humor intermixed in these books and I appreciate that aspect very much. This series is candy to me...
Although there is violence in this book, it is not graphic. Give this series a try... enjoy.
