Army Special Agent John Puller is the best there is. A combat veteran, Puller is the man the U.S. Army relies on to investigate the toughest crimes facing the nation. Now he has a new case - but this time, the crime is personal: His aunt has been found dead in Paradise, Florida.

Puller is a Jack Reacher/Mitch Rapp character. I found many similarities.

When I first started listening to this book, I thought that I had a corrupted download. They have sound affects that made a humming sound. It didn't last long.

I liked the first book in this series better. I hope that the next book is a little more interesting.

I love David Baldacci's books so I will buy the next one.

Embarking on his eighth adventure in As the Crow Flies, Sheriff Longmire is searching the Cheyenne Reservation for a site to host his daughter’s wedding, when he sees a woman fall to her death. Teaming up with beautiful tribal chief Lolo Long, Walt sets out to investigate the suspicious death.

I love Walt Longmire's laid back demeanor. He always seems to figure things out in a atypical fashion. This characteristic tends to make you love him. The books are always an adventure for sure. I am listening to these out of order, which is something that I do not normally do. However, it has not taken away from my enjoyment. I will eventually get them all and go back and listen to them in order. I am indeed entertained by this series.

When novelist Owen Quine goes missing, his wife calls in private detective Cormoran Strike. At first, Mrs. Quine just thinks her husband has gone off by himself for a few days - as he has done before - and she wants Strike to find him and bring him home. But as Strike investigates, it becomes clear that there is more to Quine's disappearance than his wife realizes. The novelist has just completed a manuscript featuring poisonous pen-portraits of almost everyone he knows.

I am so happy that I took the chance on this series... although at times I have trouble with the English accents.

Great character development, terrific mystery and all together a series that makes me just want more.

You will not be sorry to get this book and "The Cuckoos Calling" (which is the first installment) Enjoy!

Philip Kerr’s intricate novels featuring former Berlin homicide detective Bernie Gunther have earned ahallowed place in the hearts of mystery fans. It’s 1950, and Bernie has arrived in Argentina seeking asylum after being falsely identified as a Nazi war criminal. There he investigates the murder of a wealthy banker’s daughter ina case reminiscent of one he worked in Germany 18 years before.

1666: The monastery at Andrechs has long been a pilgrimage destination, but when the hangman's daughter, Magdalena; her doctor husband, Simon; and their two small children arrive there, they learn that the monks have far larger concerns than saying Mass and receiving alms. It seems that once again the hangman's family has fallen into a mysterious and dangerous adventure. Two monks at the monastery experiment with cutting-edge technology, including a method of deflecting the lightning that has previously set the monastery ablaze.

Not knowing much about the 1600s, this was a good insight into that era. I am relying of course on the author's research, which seems to me entirely believable. The characters are well developed and likable. I have listened to all the books in this series and I recommend them. If you are a mystery lover as I am, it is a departure from the modern detective novels but make no mistake, it is a well crafted mystery series. Worth the credit and the time. Enjoy.

How different things were back then. This is a fascinating series, and I will get them all. Well worth the credit and time.

Not having studied or researched the 1600's myself, I can only rely on the accuracy of the authors research and I find it fascinating. The Hangman and his family are very likable and get into some interesting situations. I usually buy modern mysteries, so this is a new adventure for my imagination. I am transported to what life was like before all of our modern conveniences. Yet it is a mystery novel... I will get the entire series and look forward to the next installment.

The Pale Criminal brings back Bernie Gunther, an ex-policeman who thought he'd seen everything on the streets of 1930s Berlin - until he turned freelance, and each case he tackled sucked him further into the grisly excesses of Nazi subculture. Hard-hitting, fast-paced, and richly detailed, The Pale Criminal is noir writing at its blackest and best.
