  • Just Listen: Discover the Secret to Getting Through to Absolutely Anyone

    • UNABRIDGED (7 hrs and 44 mins)
    • By Mark Goulston
    • Narrated By Walter Dixon
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

You’ve got a business colleague who’s hostile...a client who’s furious...a staffer who’s deeply cynical—how do you get people to do what you want in tough situations like these? In Just Listen, veteran psychiatrist and business coach Mark Goulston reveals the secret to how to get through to anyone, even when productive communication seems impossible.“Here's the challenge,” Mark says.

    Joseph says: "Not for everyone"
"Very insightful for those who get the message"
Would you consider the audio edition of Just Listen to be better than the print version?

I would say thanks Dr. Mark Goulson for this insightful book of yours. I, for one, have tremendously enjoyed the book. In fact, I found it so interesting that I listened to it twice and some of the chapters more than 3 times to indgrain the message.

It's true: if you read/ listen to Carnegie's "How to make friends and influence people", you will find Dr. Mark Goulston's advice is very similar with that of Dale Carnegie's. To the author's credit, even Carnegie says in his book that most of his advice stems from lessons learned long ago by our predecessors. I don't see a problem in reiterating good advice.

What I like about the book, that the author gives examples for how to deal with very common situation and he gives it in a simple step-by-step fashion. Critics might find some of the examples not relevant for everyone as they are more directed towards corporate world but I found them informative and could also relate to them in the context of the personal life. As an aspiring psychotherapist, I would definately listen to this book when there would come an urge to make people feel "felt" :)!

  • Millionaire Upgrade

    • UNABRIDGED (3 hrs and 28 mins)
    • By Richard Parkes Cordock
    • Narrated By Nigel Acheson

Imagine finding yourself sitting next to a self-made millionaire for eight hours on a long-haul international flight. Imagine that person was prepared to share with you the secrets of their success. For one lucky person this actually happened. Inspired by a true story, Millionaire Upgrade is the tale of one very experienced entrepreneur and one very lucky passenger.

Philippe says: "A complementary book for the Millionaire series"
"A Lot of Insight Knowledge for Free"
What did you love best about Millionaire Upgrade?

Although the book reminded me of the Napoleon Hills “think and grow rich” but to listen to almost the same content once again with a good narration and storyline was quite refreshing.
The book is worth of a credit for sure but when you get it free, it makes it a must have in your book archive. I need to listen to it once more to list down the “I Believe” statement on my Visionboard.

Very much recommended for those who seek life beyond ordinary and is ready to adapt the principles!

  • A New Earth: Awakening To Your Life's Purpose

    • UNABRIDGED (9 hrs and 15 mins)
    • By Eckhart Tolle
    • Narrated By Eckhart Tolle
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Humanity now, perhaps more than in any previous time, has an opportunity to create a new, saner, more loving world. This will involve a radical inner leap from the current egoic consciousness to an entirely new one. In illuminating the nature of this shift in consciousness, Tolle describes in detail how our current ego-based state of consciousness operates. Then gently, and in very practical terms, he leads us into this new consciousness. We will come to experience who we truly are and learn to live and breathe freely.

Mr. Word Sponge says: "A Realized Being Shares In Person...a rare find."
    "Absolutely mindblowing book"
Where does A New Earth rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I have read The power of Now by Eckhart which has always been dear to me but now this book has brought me closer to what he calls "awakening".

Eckhart clearly defines, with excellent examples, how our identification with the ego (and not the ego itself, mind you) keeps us from simply being in the present and instead tied to thoughts, concepts, mind-stuff, endless identification with people, places, and things. He shows us the many forms and faces that the ego takes up, and shows us the fallacy of identifying with forms in the first place.

To identify so completely with form is to identify with that which is doomed to extinction, causing us loss and sadness. Wouldn't it be better if we simply observed things from an aware state, and not get so caught up in them? This is Eckhart's goal, to get us to a place where we can see the benefits of raising our awareness, and actually wanting to.

Another good thing about this book is its MANY good points/examples such as, he talks about how Buddhism seeks to make us aware of the troubles in daily life and how we must learn to accept the way life is. He says that sin in the original language of the Bible was not "evil", it was about "missing the mark". People were being advised to learn from their mistakes and correct their path as they went.

There is also another one which is my favourite, where he states that every moment we're in we should either be thinking of "acceptance", "enjoyment" or "enthusiasm". If we really don't want to be changing a flat tire in the rain, simply accept it, do it as best you can, and move on. Being stressed and angry isn't going to make the tire change more quickly, and will add stress hormones and bad health to your list of problems.

Furthermore, I like they way he names and call the "pain-body". After reading this book I began to get a clue. I have noticed that when I am around negative people that they tend to make negative things happen around them, orchestrate negative reactions, or simple leave a "bleh" feeling behind or with them. From what Tolle says, and it makes sense, that this is part of or IS the pain body spreading itself. You can even notice it in yourself at times; looking to start trouble because we're miserable for a moment. Again, if we are aware, we can choose not to feed it. You'll find the misery pointless and a time was time.

Last but now least, I cannot recommend Eckhart's book enough. I am completely and deeply grateful that this book is now available in audible and I can carry and listen to it whenever I want to. I say "thank you" to Eckhart and "thank you" to the oneness that we are for "A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life's Purpose."
