"First Title ever recommend to friends"
Very well written and read. Does not pull at heart strings but I teared up twice. Before i was 1/4 done i started recommending this book to others because I thought it was so enjoyable. I've listened to almost 200 audiobooks and this is the first that I thought of as being liked by anyone, pet owner or not.
"be warned, this book takes place in the 90s"
Like many of the reviewers, I thought this was new release, meaning a new book. I had to look up the publish date about an hour into the book because I thought I missed something in the narration. “you have mail”, AOL, Modems, car phones (not cell phones) etc. Really!! Would have been a decent book when it was first published but it is way out of place if you want a relevant book to today’s technology. It made me squirm to listen to storing data on a floppy disc. Baldacci is a great story teller but you might want to skip this one.
"enough already with the introductions"
i loved the first book, and then each sequel dropped in quality, but it has been a while so i eagerly awited listening to this....on and on it went with this relative and that relative ...yada yada...it was cute the first time..i had to stop listening because the story wasn't going anywhere.
"narrator full of herself"
I am sure this book is a good "read" because it's on the NY Times best seller list- but it's a terrible listen! The narrator insists on proving her talent by using accents that make me ill- and they are pointless - there aren't any accents in the book whay add them in voice. It's one thing to modulate a voice to differentiate male from female - but you should really skip this book- no wonder Audible offered a special under $10 deal - I feel suckered!
