Detective Carl Morck has received a bottle that holds an old and decayed message written in blood. It's a cry for help from two young brothers, tied and bound in a boathouse by the sea. After floating in the ocean for years before turning up, the bottle sat forgotten, unopened, on a police department windowsill, before the seal was cracked and the gruesome message, written in Danish, was analyzed. Could it be real? Who are these boys, and why weren't they reported missing? Could they possibly still be alive?

What did you like best about A Conspiracy of Faith? What did you like least?

I have listened to all 3 of these books now, and each has had a different narrater. First off the author needs to step in because the lack of consistency is a huge detractor from the story. I did get the first one from my local library , so its possible its a different narrater on audible, but it was fantastic. The second one , again the story very engaging , I personally did not like the change in narrater, and i didn't think he was as good.
This third one, i almost stopped right away and returned the book it was that disconcerting !! Whomever made the decision to have the very recognizable voice of the MC Beaton light hearted Hamish McBeth series ( well into over a dozen) should be fired !!!!

I have listened to every MC Beaton in the series, and to hear that very very distinctive voice read this very grim , serious book was TRAGIC !!!!!!

I can only hope the author / audiobook decision making group get there act together on this very smart intellectual series. It has great potentiol , but i personally will now check who the reader is before i buy another one, and i won't be listening to anything by this reader in this type of book ever again . It was that disconcerting. If you are not familiar with the voice it would be a fine read. However most of us are & this was a very poor selection of narrater.

What was one of the most memorable moments of A Conspiracy of Faith?

Hearing the narrater's voice almost stopped me dead in my tracks

Would you be willing to try another one of Graeme Malcolm’s performances?

Not in this series ever again

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

    yes

    Any additional comments?

get a narrater that suits this genre and stick to it , stop changing around , and don't pick a voice so known for another lighthearted genre, that was a mad stupid decision !!!

Just days before a massive exhibition opens at the popular New York Museum of Natural History, visitors are being savagely murdered in the museum's dark hallways and secret rooms. Autopsies indicate that the killer cannot be human. But the museum's directors plan to go ahead with a big bash to celebrate the new exhibition, in spite of the murders. Museum researcher Margo Green must find out who - or what - is doing the killing.

What did you love best about Relic?

I loved everything about this book and having listened to at least 2 others now makes me so appreciate David's voice so much more !

What was one of the most memorable moments of Relic?

I'd tell you but then I'd have to kill you !

Have you listened to any of David Colacci’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

this was the first and he has now defined the brand of pendergast for me

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

loved it and i was shocked that i did , and now i'm a rabid pendergast fan

    Any additional comments?

listen to the sample , and consider if you want another narrator in the later versions, i am having a big problem getting thru other later versions not read by this narrator !

  • Brimstone: Pendergast, Book 5

Art critic Jeremy Grove is found dead, his face frozen in a mask of terror. His body temperature is grotesquely high; he is discovered in a room barricaded from the inside; the smell of brimstone is everywhere... and the unmistakable imprint of a claw is burned into the wall. As more bodies are discovered - their only connection the bizarre but identical manner of death - the world begins to wonder if the Devil has, in fact, come to collect his due.

Lannette says: "Simply another great Pendergast novel."

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I think this series is not as enjoyable as it could be by this constant changing of narrators. I found this narrator not at all what i had become used to in the previous ones as the voice of pendergast. So much so i won't listen to anymore than he reads i'll head right back to a hardcover !

Would you be willing to try another book from Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child ? Why or why not?

yes i want to read them all, but i will now always listen to a sample first , this one was really tough to get thru

What didn’t you like about Scott Brick’s performance?

i just didn't think he had the voice of pendergast , the relic , defined the voice of narration for me, i think it makes the series very very choppy

Could you see Brimstone being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

    no its not for me

    Any additional comments?

i would really ask the authors to think about what they are doing, the storylines are already not linear, so when you combine different narrators, i just think its a kiss of death,
i mean i really don't like the changing, and I won't purchase another one without listening to the sample first, i almost returned this book it was that bad to me

A young woman is murdered in her Oslo flat. One finger has been severed from her left hand, and behind her eyelid is secreted a tiny red diamond in the shape of a five-pointed star - a pentagram, the devil’s star. Detective Harry Hole is assigned to the case with his long-time adversary Tom Waaler and initially wants no part in it. But Harry is already on notice to quit the force and is left with little alternative but to drag himself out of his alcoholic stupor and get to work. A wave of similar murders is on the horizon....
