This book is definitely one that was worth my time and money. I have enjoyed all of Patricia Briggs books and so wish there were more. I will reread this one again - and I don't do that very often unless it is something I really, really enjoy.

Picking my favorite part is hard because the book is so good, but I have to say I think one of my favorites was the discussions Anna and Asil had with Brand in the beginning. Got to love someone who can respectfully disagree with their leader and help him see a different point of view. (And knowing that other than Mercy, no one else will stand up to him makes this part fun to listen to.)

Holter Graham does a great job. Listening to a book means that you listen to every single word written, with some that is a little bit of a struggle, but not with the books narrated by Holter. His reading not only helps bring the books to life on a different dimension, but the characters as well. Since listening to him read, I tend to hear his voice and intonation while reading other books in the same series (this series as well as others he has read). I didn't have but maybe one or two times I had to think about who said what and usually that was pretty clear just by what was being said. Sometimes narrators struggle with the quick switching back and forth and loose the voice needed for each character. (I don't complain because I know just how hard it is to do.) Holter is so good at it that it isn't a problem for him. I have enjoyed his work on other books as well. As others commented, there are no other sounds that can distract from the listening. I am not sure if that is the narrator or studio recording differences, but it was a pleasure to listen to and I will search for other books he has done because of it.

I usually listen during my drive time or at lunch while I am working. With this book, I listened every spare moment I could find, even when husband was home (Thank God for March Madness). :)

I couldn't wait for this book to come out. I started the series with Alpha and Omega and was hooked. Unlike many authors, Briggs doesn't rewrite the same story over and over with each new book. She writes a fresh story and makes the characters real in ways that others can sometimes struggle with. At no time do you wish that they would just get on with the story; she keeps the relationships real, never fake and dumb. With this book, she gives you a really good insight into Brand, Anna and Charles. You know that at the end of this story, the results are going to impact Mercy Thompson's series too. I like that while they are two separate series, they do flow so well together. I so wish that we could get more than one book a year, but I will admit that the wait is definitely worth it. I will just have to do what others have said and reread the two series again.

I have most of these books in paperback but when the opportunity came to get them on Audible I jumped at a chance to listen to something funny and well written for those times I am not in the mood for something new and unknown. I have to admit that this book and the the one with Jackie and Vincent (A Bite to Remember) are my favorites due to the kicka** attitude of the female characters. I loved how Jo doesn't get sidetracked from what is important and when it comes time for her to learn the truth about vampires she still is hesitant but doesn't go into that "Oh no, I need to run away and act like an idiot" frame of mind. If you like a strong, intelligent, take no guff off anybody and see through to the truth lead female character? This book is for you. I love Nicholas and his way of dealing with his previous loss and accepting Jo as his new lifemate. As for my favorite scene - has to be Jo's "discussion" with Lucien towards the end of the book. She had me laughing out loud there. Nicholas and Jo's story flows right into Armand's story, they tie into each other and complete the story line. If you get this one, please make sure and get "Born to Bite" as well. Both very good stories. (Eshie fits the same female character style as Jackie and Jo.) As for Kerby Heyborne as a narrator - he did a good job. I didn't have any trouble listening and feeling like I understood the characters' voices or who was talking when. If you haven't checked out this series please do. Well worth your time and money.

I enjoyed the story. The characters were well developed and the story line flowed. I loved the relationships with the relatives and the ending was definitely cute. None of the characters played the idiot or came across as stupid. I had a feeling about what was coming in the story line but it was well done. I didn't feel like I might as well give up because I knew what was going to happen. Truly the only problem I have with the book at all is the accent that the narrator uses for her male heroes in the books. Sadly, she has had this problem with another series. Usually her secondary characters have better fitting voices then the lead male voice. I am usually able to move beyond it enough to enjoy the book but I so would perfer a more masculine voice that fit the character. Please don't get me wrong, I love her voices for her female leads and she is great at the humor part of her roles. (She is great in Nice Girls: Jane Jamison series except for Gabriel's voice. She carries the humor part of the characters and first person narration wonderfully, but Gabriel's accent makes him come across as something less then an alpha type male.) When she has a male voice that doesn't require a foreign accent, she does a great job.

I loved this book for the humor as much as the romance. I liked the pace for the most part that Owen and Avery took their relationship - making sure to not mess up their friendship in the process. I absolutely loved when Owen went to his mom's for breakfast. Hysterical!!! You begin to understand Lizzy and her character better as well. She starts to become more 3 dimensional (if that is possible for a ghost) and really adds to the story. Even the misunderstandings between Owen and Avery are realistic. I have truly enjoyed this series as much as the Bride/Vow series that Roberts just finished. Vows left me hungry for more and this one has done a really good job of filling that gap. I loved being able to go online and see the real Inn Boonsboro while listening to get a complete picture of the descriptions of the book. That story is an interesting read too.

This book was fun. It took me a couple of tries to get going with the book (my fault not the book's) but once I got to the point of Kat and Bones meeting - it was really good. I laughed out loud so often that I was constantly getting funny looks or the comment "What's so funny?" (listening on my MP3 Player).

Good - Could Improve - This is the only problem I had with this book. Ms. Gilbert's voice for all of her characters, but one, was really pretty good and fit what you expected to hear.......but with Bones. Her English accent was hard on my ears. I struggled with Bones' voice because it was so high pitched. She had other guys with the right pitch but Bones came out sounding too high pitched for my tastes. I finally got to tolerating it by the second half of the book but would have preferred something different there. I would listen to her other books because like I said - all the other characters were great. Just wish she had chosen to do something a little deeper for Bones.

Gabriel's character lived up to what I had envisioned for him. I thoroughly enjoyed Oliver's story - 5 stars, Jarrett's was okay, 3 1/2 stars, and Minerva's was pretty good, 4 stars. Gabriel's story was definitely 5 stars. The story flowed, didn't feel rushed, fake or make you shake your head and wish it would move along. Both characters were strong and didn't waffle in their feelings for each other or take forever to settle their issues. The back story of the parents of Halstead Hall is slowly coming together. The end of that part of the story is still a mystery while each book reveals that character's memories. I can't wait for Celia's story. She intrigued me in this book. The narrator did a great job. His voice was easy to listen to and had distinctive sounds for each character.
