I love the genre, but this fell flat. Attempts at humor with chapter title/sayings weren't clever or funny. Overall just a weak story.
Performance - really? A narrator who can't pronounce 'wan' or 'curarae'?
Two books now almost ruined when the narrator can't be bothered to learn how to pronounce unfamiliar words. Sidhe, Mengele and ennui. Otherwise a good story, but hard to lose yourself in the story when you're flinching every few paragraphs.
Maybe I should just read the book next time.
Wanted more creative, fun magic like "BAMPF". But got mild humor about stupid villain and lame RPG. Hope he does better with the next one.
Wish the narrator had looked up how to pronounce Sidhe. It really detracted from the book every time he said it incorrectly.
I so wanted to like this from the description; big fan of Zombie books. But minimal character development and oh the tired retread encounters of groups of survivors. I could barely finish. I usually don't want my books to end but with this one I increased the playback speed just to get through it.
Boring. Finished to see if it got better, but then suddenly it ended. Main story line was wrapped up but fundamental questions went unanswered. Not a good read for fans of urban fantasy.
Shows what a really good author can do with the vampire-hunter concept. I'm a big fan of the early Anita Blake books and I really think these are so much better. Whole world she has created is more realistic, while still being a fantasy. And Beast is such a great character!
Yes, we all hate change, but as we are told the previous narrator wasn't available. I had just listened to the previous three books so I did notice the difference... briefly. But Angela did just as good a job as Cynthia, just a bit different. Nothing bad about the narration at all.
Come on folks, its not like we're talking about Jim Dale sorts of narrators with tons of unique voices here... with either of them.
My favorite book out of the last 4 in the series.
