Yes. The story keeps one guessing as to who actually committed the crimes.
Matthew as he was the only one who could see through all the superstitions of the people and his belief in the accused never wavered. His character is great as he thoughtfully worked out who was the criminal.
No, but I must say that he is an excellent narrator and this made the book so much more interesting as he brought each character to life as a result of his talent, I thoroughly enjoyed the book and was sorry when it came to an end.
I found the end of the story about the magistrate very sad.
A good listen. The story takes place in an era when people were superstitious, uneducated and cruel and were easily aroused to violence. The belief in sorcery forms the background of the story The the storyline is very good and there were times when I was sitting on the edge of my seat and found it difficult to stop listening.
The narrator, Humphrey Bower, once more surpassed himself. The different character voices, is amazing. A truly gifted narrator.
The Story of Danny Dunn who was a POW, but of the Japanese, although the story was quite different and the ending sad I enjoyed it. I found Brother Fish riveting reading
I was intrigued by the effortless way he changed his voice to suit the characters, and there are many.
If there is one film you should not miss. This is it!
Bryce Courtenay once again wrote a truly great book. I enjoyed the way the storyline moved from the past to the present throughout the book. Except for one sad episode, the story ends on a happy note. If you are looking for an interesting an entertaining book, then you should read Brother Fish.
The court scenes are excellent and easy to imagine that I was attending the trial.
The plot is great. Unravelling of the story very good. The reader or listener will not find it easy to put down the book or to stop listening. The author has a great insight of legal procedures. Great courtroom scenes. Excellent storyline. Highly recommended.
I found him to be a very competent narrator, who brought the story to life. Well done.
A book worth buying.
I lived In Johannesburg as a child in the same era it brought back memories.
That Peekay could overcome so many obstacles and grow up to be such a successful man.
When Peekay had to pray to The Lord to supply the clothes for boarding school. ,
Doc, he took Peekay under his wing and passed on his knowledge out of the kindness of his heart.
I found some of the scenes very amusing as I understand the culture of the ethnic groups. A very enjoyable book, which I highly recommend.
Yes. A clever plot.
The Indian, who did his best to guide Matthew to safety, even though badly wounded.
The scene at the well. The Indians were so laidback, but set out to do the job and carried it out with, which seemed, no great effort whatsoever..
Matthew. He impresses me because he never acts without thinking before he makes his move..
Eldoardo Ballerini's performance is great. He is very talented, he has the gift of bringing the characters to life. Channging his voice for so many charaters is outstanding.
