Now engaged to Mr. J.L.B. Matekoni, Mma Ramotswe must contend with the hostility of her fianci's unscrupulous maid, who quickly begins plotting the disintegration of the arrangement. This second book in the series continues in the wonderful story telling voice of Smith. I love the gentle plot twists he puts in, and his character development is superb. The reader also does a wonderful job, adding character to an already rich book, and I would rather listen to then read it.

Bridget Jones, the iconic character who sold 15 million books worldwide, inspired a major motion picture franchise, and became beloved as a Chardonnay-swilling everywoman, is back in this hotly anticipated third installment.

I was greatly anticipating the newest Bridget Jones book, but this one fell short. Although this book found Bridget many years and experiences older, including wtih 2 kids, Ms. Fielding tried to keep Bridget as the same person she was in the first 2 books. As a result, it felt forced, and was not nearly as enjoyable as if she had let this beloved character age and mature. It was fun to hear Bridget's voice again, but overall, this book was disappointing.

I chose this book because I absolutely loved Chevalier's Girl with a Pearl Earring and Remarkable Creatures. This one was just OK. It was an interesting story, but didn't fully capture my interest. I also didn't learn about history nearly as I had with the others, especially in Remarkable Creatures.

At first, the narrators were a little hard to understand, but I quickly became accustomed to them and thought they did a decent job. I liked having two different narrators.

This ambitious, electrifying work traces the harrowing journey of the famed Sarajevo Haggadah, a beautifully illuminated Hebrew manuscript created in 15th-century Spain.

When it falls to Hanna Heath, an Australian rare-book expert, to conserve this priceless work, the series of tiny artifacts she discovers in its ancient binding - an insect wing fragment, wine stains, salt crystals, a white hair - only begin to unlock its deep mysteries.

    Yvette says: "Amazing, fabulous, wonderful!!!"

A wonderful book. Well written, and such an interesting and creative way to learn history. I thought the narrator did a great job.

Why we think it’s a great listen: The best book club you’ve never heard of – but will be eager to join, courtesy of a full cast of true characters. January 1946: London is emerging from the shadow of the Second World War, and writer Juliet Ashton is looking for her next book subject. Who could imagine that she would find it in a letter from a man she's never met, a native of the island of Guernsey, who has come across her name written inside a book by Charles Lamb....

This is a wonderful, beautiful book. I keep recommending it to friends. And because of the amazing narration, I insist they listen to it.

Readers everywhere have become entranced by the New York Times best-selling No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency series, from acclaimed author and award-winning wit Alexander McCall Smith. Each charming book in the series is a masterpiece of comic subtlety and a window for viewing the distinctive culture and landscape of Botswana.

    Nancy says: "Great Listen"
    "charming"
    Overall

This book was an enjoyable listen from beginning to end. Although I have enjoyed all of the books in this series, I wasn't as happy with the last couple. This installation though was a strong as ever and I highly recommend it. The new characters brought into the series were well developed, and fun to get to know. The book was both humerous and heart warming. And as always, Lisette Lecat does a delightful job of narration and her style is well suited for the book.

At the close of the last millennium, Helen Fielding debuted the irrepressible (and blockbuster-bestselling) Bridget Jones. Now, Fielding gives us a sensational new heroine for a new era. Move over 007, a stunning, sexy, and decidedly female, new player has entered the world of international espionage. Her name is Olivia Joules and she's ready to take America by storm with charm, style, and her infamous Overactive Imagination.

Jody R. Nathan says: "Great Romp; wonderfully performed"
    "Lots of Fun"
    Overall

I would highly recommend this book. It's light hearted, and the characters are quite endearing. Yes, it's unrealistic, but it never claims to be. Just let yourself enjoy it, and you'll be immersed in the story and characters, and especially in the imagination of the main character. You'll thoroughly enjoy it from beginning to end. Plus, it is well read.

American Short Stories, Yes, "Great" American short stories, not really. Although there were some enjoyable stories, overall, the stories were not very good, I did not feel the readers did the best job, and there were some issues with sound quality. After listening to half of the stories, I gave up on the collection. There are so many wonderful books available on audible, including American classics, that I would not waste my time with this.
