One bitter Midwinter's Eve, everything changes when Bridei finds a child on their doorstep - a child abandoned by the Fair Folk. It is the height of ill fortune to have truck with the Fair Folk, and all in the area counsel the babe's death. But Bridei sees an old and precious magic at work and, heedless of the danger, fights to save the child. Broichan is wary but relents, for Bridei must grow to be his own man and make his own decisions.

I did not find this book slow. I enjoy books that have good character development. I loved Bridae and Tuala's story and was sad to see this book end. I am hoping that audible will get the other stories in this trilogy soon. I will definitely buy them.

  • The Grand Sophy

Resourceful, adventurous and utterly indefatigable, Sophy is hardly the mild-mannered girl that the Rivenhalls expect when they agree to take her in. Kind-hearted Aunt Lizzy is shocked; stern Cousin Charles and his humorless fiancée Eugenia are disapproving. With her inimitable mixture of exuberance and grace Sophy soon sets about endearing herself to her family, but finds herself increasingly drawn to her cousin. Can she really be falling in love with him, and he with her? And what of his betrothal to Eugenia?

One of my favorites from one of my all time favorite authors. Thank you Audible for getting it unabridged.

Some of Georgette Heyer's books are better than others, but they are all good and worth reading over and over. Finding them on Audible and revisiting them yet again with someone else' voice has been so fun! If you haven't read her books before, do yourself a favor.

Why we think it’s a great listen: It’s easy to say that when it comes to sci-fi you either love it or you hate it. But with Ender’s Game, it seems to be you either love it or you love it.... The war with the Buggers has been raging for a hundred years, and the quest for the perfect general has been underway for almost as long. Enter Andrew "Ender" Wiggin, the result of decades of genetic experimentation.

    "Loved it"

Another reviewer was offended by the nudity in this book. Umm...what? There was mention of nudity but nothing even remotely sexual or offensive or even worth mentioning. I read this story when I was a teenager and loved it then. I have to agree with OSC that listening to it was even better. Do yourself a favor. If you haven't read any of this author's books, start with this one. It's worth the credit.

From the moment he beds Desi, Caine knows turmoil will follow. Desi might have the face of a temptress, but she also has a will of iron, and while she needs his protection, she's determined that no man will control her again. They establish an uneasy bond, but it isn't enough for Caine. He wants all Desi has to offer. He wants her screams, her moans, her demands...everything. Yet there's still a bounty on Desi's head, and keeping her sexually satisfied is proving easier than keeping her alive.

    Overall

This could have been an interesting story if the author had any interest in developing it. She just dropped the most interesting threads and they petered out with really wimpy, uninteresting conclusions. This book was just a lot of long, long repetitive sex scenes that got boring. I couldn't wait for it to end. I'll give it one star because the narrator did a good job.
