"Women will probably love it"
This is like a chic flick. If you are into the feelings and emotions of two women as they grow up, this will be a good book to listen to. If not, then it is not so good.
"Great book, terrible reader"
The story is a great historical novel. I am 73 and it gave me an understanding of WW II which I appreciate. Things like explaining "Lend Lease" which I had heard but never understood. English must be the reader's second language. When reading regular dialog he pauses between every word, absolutely excruciating. If the story had not been so good I would have never finished the book. Of the more than 200 audio books I have listened to, this is the worst reading I have encountered.
"Interesting History"
This book is much more than just the story of the trip. The background on the early life of Lewis established his background and capabilities of an explorer. The final chapter of his life illustrated how fragile his life was. I found the entire book most interesting.
"Please, never again"
The book was not interesting, dumb, and a weak story line. It is not that I do not like "little people", it is just that none of the characters ever became real.
