Not on your life. I waded through some of his earlier works some years ago and had forgotten how wordy and plot action free Lawhead is. He must get paid by the word. I listened for hours and about 15 minutes were interesting. Character development went away after the first third of the book and the parts that could have been interesting were never developed. Lewis' love interest faded to nothing. Simon's character was interesting to begin with, then faded to monochrome. Professor Nettles was great, then disappeared.yada de yada de yada
No I'm currently listening to The Red Pyramid and am quite enjoying it.
Langdon's voice became monotonous, more voices would have improved what action there was.
All the slogging through interminabile countryside to get to the fortress when they could have stayed put in the King's original strong hold and rebuilt. Weak plot device milked to make more pages. No doubt the further books will run to 14 volumes like Robert Jorden's work. I bailed on that series too!
No it was not because Rigg's character was so annoying.
Endless semantic babble by Rigg's character with Umbo as his lame foil.
I recently listened to the first Mithermage novel which is some of Card's best work ever.
Pathfinder was pale and weak by comparison, with nothing in the characters to engage the reader/listener.
Yes, the reader was fine, but the material has to be good, and it wasn't.
NO WAY, spend the energy on more Mithermage novels,PLEASE!
I enjoyed the first 2/3 of the book, but it was just too long.
The snapshot of Australian life and attitudes from the time period
The common Digger soldiers
Probably not. War holds no attraction for me.
Yes, the characters become so much more alive in the audio format. I love the print edition, but the audiobook is richer .
Can't choose just one:Bobby Shafto, flawed determination, horny junkie. Both Waterhouse men( Lawrence,Randy) nerds as men of action. America Shafto, the woman of my dreams! Enoch Root, comic immortality, morality. Goto Dengo, just all around great character.
The U-boat Kapitane is killer too.
Both many times.
Some tough sections to get through early in the book where the math gets a bit deep but worth the effort. a masterpiece
