In the mid-70s, Steve Martin exploded onto the comedy scene. By 1978 he was the biggest concert draw in the history of stand-up. In 1981 he quit forever. Born Standing Up is, in his own words, the story of "why I did stand-up and why I walked away".

"Born Standing Up is serious business"
    Overall

A terrific insight to the science and mechanics of comedy writing in the brain of this "wild and crazy guy."

I didn't realize at first that this calm, understated and serious narrator was Steve Martin.

Recommended for those who can appreciate the impact of isolation, panic attacks and persistence as significant learning experiences.

Thoughtful presentation of factual information with little emphasis on engaging the reader. It is easy to get lost in the lists and listings of inputs and responses.

Susie Bright is the fearless boundary crosser of contemporary erotica, and The Best American Erotica 2005 features stories of unprecedented literary pedigree and a stunning breadth of imagination.

    Jesse says: "Why Susie?"
    "When erotica is not erotic"
    Overall

Maybe Susie Bright has lost her touch at selecting good erotica or she's been at it so long she just got lazy with this one. A real snoozer. Cannot imagine anyone being aroused by any of the stories included.
