Yes, I thought the book started out a little slow, but then it really picked up. Once listening to the second part of the download I couldn't put it down. The author is really descriptive in the story telling, which is good, but it slows the listen down some.

I think it was a little too descriptive in some places. Also, the writer was in Harry's head a lot. Not that this was a bad thing, but sometimes I thought, - When is he finally going to get into Mexico, or - He still hasn't begun his conversation with so-and-so yet.

The Castle Scene.

I don't think it NEEDS a follow-up. The ends were well tied up in this story. However, it appears that there are several other Harry Bosche books, that I plan on getting to eventually. I'm curious about the realtionship between Bosche and Haller. Also, if Bosche will ever get the respect of his captains. Although... I guess he doesnt show much respect to them either.

I thought the story was well written and complex. I kept trying to figure out where the story was going and predict the ending, but you can't really do that with this story. You just have to listen and accept and take it in. It really made me think about my own life and I think everyone can take away something from the story. The narration was great too.

Charlie, you just had to root for him the entire time. The audience goes on a roller coaster ride with his emotions. Charlies sister was a close second. You could really tell the family dynamics, and I admired her support of her brother even with her own problems.

Being from Pittsburgh, the Ft. Pitt Tunnel scene was easy to visualize and made me smile.

The only negativity is that I really disagreed with the underage drinking and drug use. It didn't change my opinion of the story, but I really wish he would've stopped smoking...

Oh yes, in this story there were three crimes all connected with many characters and many different scenes. It felt fast paced because Harry was so determined to solve this. He put himself in suspenseful situations, that always had you wondering.

Yes, most of the Bosch stories I'll listen outside of my daily commute.

I am glad there was a resolution to the story.

The story was not all that surprising. I felt as if the story was a bit more predictable than the previous Harry Bosch books. However the mission that Bosch is on and his need to find the truth really hooked me in. I could not stop the story and wanted to know the history in the bones. I immediately had to purchase and download Book 9!

The story was good and a nice listen. I found that it was difficult to stop listening because I was so curious throughout the entire story. I don't think this would be the first story I would listen to again, but I do not think I would be bored if I decided to listen again, even knowing the story resolution.

There were two that stood out to me. 1) When a police officer was murdered. I expected him to be a recurring name throughout the Bosche stories, so it was a surprise. 2) The conclusion of who had killed his mother so long ago.

He is able to portray the different characters personalities and emotions really well.

I enjoyed when Harry Bosch spoke with the Psychiatrist and Jaz about his youth.

Probably not, but that doesn't take anything away from the Book. I just do not re-listen very often.

Julian, I loved his confidence and his spirit.

They were delightful, they nailed the personas of each child and person in the story.

Julian's response to bullying was inspiring.

The story was very quick and an overall good book to read. The beginning started out a little slow. But, hang in there- it gets better.

The girls are growing up. I find myself really wanting them all to succeed and find themselves. This summer was more complicated and their situations were a bit more serious than the first.

I liked Carmen in the first book best, but Tibby in this one. I relate to her the most. She makes mistakes, but she tries to correct them.

I am downloading the third summer right away to see what comes next. Hopefully, their relationships are a little bit better next summer. That is my only complaint- How the girls seem to be so enthralled by guys. I understand its a teen book, and they are teenagers. However, I'm starting to tune out Lena's life.

I never saw the print version, but I was told there were some pictures and letters that were missed by listening to the story verses reading the book.

The story was not one dimensional. I did not realize where the story was going, so it was a treat to listen to. I also felt the characters to be complex, so throughout the story I was rooting for some, and then annoyed with them a chapter later.

I thought the performance was just OK. I understand how the book was written and cannot think of away around this. But I did not like the sudden voice changes for the grandmother/grandfather chapters.

The father! He seemed like such a knowledgeable character. I think that dinner would go by really fast.

The book was a gift from a friend, because I said I would not see the movie, before reading the story. I have yet to watch the movie.. but I am very interested in seeing how it was done. Although it took some emotions (cried, laughed,was angered, etc.) by the end, I was satisfied.

I liked Little Bee's story. I thought the writer did a good job explaining her journey, her pasts, and thoughts throughout the story. I did not like the British woman's character at all. I found it difficult to relate to her chapters in the book and she came across really naive, uninformed, not having much common sense.

Not really a surprise.

When the refugees first got out of the detention center. There were four woman exploring land together that they were completly foreign to. The locals didn't want them in their country.. I enjoyed the intereaction with the four girls and seeing how they worked together and took their first steps together.

Sadly no. The book felt really fiction. So because it felt like just a story I didn't feel motivated to do anything. The ending fell short for me so I was a bit disappointed.

I was not sure what to expect with this story. Although the review is a bit negative I would still recommend the book to listeners. I thought it was a different story than I've listened to. I thought it was enjoyable and I never had the thought of not finishing the story. I thought the author did a great job capturing Little Bee in this story. However, it was not a truly belivable story and I did not care for the other main character. The book is slower paced, so keep that in mind.

I purchased this because I read that if you liked the Hunger Games then you would enjoy Divergent. I think I enjoyed this better than the Hunger Games. It made you think about people and tempers and goodness of society. My only complaint is that there is not a second book or more to listen too. The narrarator did a great job too.
