After a tragic stint in the National Guards, Adam Connelly returns to Idaho and to Belle Haven, the animal shelter he owns with his brothers. All Adam wants is to be alone. Then he opens the door to the past and to the woman whose heart he once broke. Still gorgeous, still tough-as-nails, but this time, unusually vulnerable. Holly learned the hard way to never depend on a man for anything. Now, of all men, Adam is the last one she wants to see, and the only one she needs.

The rich are very different from you and me. Blessed by great wealth, they can get what they want, even what they shouldn’t have. Cursed by great wealth, they become the targets of others who will risk everything to become affluent. Nelson DeMille introduces twenty original tales by today’s most elite mystery writers who explore the life (and death) styles of the rich and infamous.

No, this was highlighting new writers, but it failed to give credit to all the writers! How can you buy their work if you do not know their names. Yes, some authors were credited but most were not. If you like hearing the readers, which I did, then this was not a disappointment as the readers do justice in just a few chapters. If you like hearing what a good writer can do in a few paragraphs, then this is a must listen for future mystery writers.

Have you listened to any of the narrators’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

    All the readers are EXCELLENT

Did The Rich and the Dead inspire you to do anything?

I could only seek out authors that were named.

I purchased this a few years ago, and am now getting around to listen to it. Gads, I only hope I purchased on sale rather than use a full credit. Save this for the semi annual 25% off sale.

Beautiful and self-confident businesswoman Rusty Carlson was hurt, terrified and alone with a man she feared. But one thing was certain – she would surely die without his help. Vietnam vet Cooper Landry had a deep-rooted grudge against beautiful women like Rusty. Experience had taught him they were takers. But he’d survived far worse dangers, and this time he’d be damned if he’d let her risk his chance for survival.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Sandra opens with a description of this classic core romance. If you love her current works, this is not it. S.B. first wrote as a romance writer with her stories having a H.E.A.E.

What did you like best about this story?

Cooper our hero, makes you want to go camping in the great outdoors.

    Which scene was your favorite?

when Cooper protects Rusty from raunchy father and son.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

this is a classic I have re read in hard copy. Joyce Bean voice is a bit deeper in this recording than her 2008 reads and she is JUST wonderful in this book.

    Any additional comments?

Joyce reads S.B. Witness and is fantastic. Try her read of Linda Howards Cry No More both are not to be missed.

A fabulous lost Amazon city once inhabited by women warriors and containing a rare red diamond: it sounded like myth, but archeologist Jillian Sherwood believed it was real, and she was willing to put up with anything to find it - even Ben Lewis. Ruffian, knock-about, and number one river guide in Brazil, Ben was all man - over six feet of rock-hard muscles that rippled under his khakis, with lazy blue eyes that taunted her from his tanned face.

What did you love best about Heart of Fire?

this is an Old Classic from Linda Howard which is a top fave of mine, beware it was written in the 90's so read reviews.

What did you like best about this story?

this is a 90's story of family loyalty coupled with an Amazon adventure. If you like Linda's current work, then this is not it. Of course long time fans of L.H. know this is a must have novel to have in their library.

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

Tanya, AKA Tatitana Sokolov, recorded this story before she developed her current deeper voice reads. If you like her, then this will not disappoint, but it is NOT in her raspy deep voice.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

yes, as this is a classic romance. NOT the F.S.O.G variety, but one that has humor and wit in the dialogue.

What did you love best about Executive Privilege?

I purchased due to J.D. reading this book. I listened to #3 first as it was a later recording than book1. Both are good books and they do overlap so buy this one first. I had no idea who the main focus hero and heroine were going to be and this book was a delight, as it cleverly wove several pairs together to bring the story to light. I have to say #1 is a bit better than #3 so if you like this book, #3 will not disappoint.

If you’ve listened to books by Phillip Margolin before, how does this one compare?

I have purchased 4 of his books and After Dark is still my fave, but you will need a tissue if you like mystery romances. It is not a romance by far but a tale of deep obsession that goes too far. Both #1 & #3 are more of a saga mystery with lots of twists and turns. I love Angela Dawe male reading voice, hence After Dark.

Which character – as performed by Jonathan Davis – was your favorite?

Mr Davis is so great at breathing life into each character from our heroes down to each villain.
This story had lots of characters and Davis makes each character very distinct so you could listen and enjoy. I loved J.D. reading Sandra Browns Mean Streak and I have been downloading any good synopsis/listen that closely duplicates his pace and voice patterns from that book.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

when our F.BI. agent reads Dana's file.

author's wit and humor comes across due to Jonathan Davis's delivery.

Would you be willing to try another book from Dennis Lehane? Why or why not?

I have all of this series in my wish list due to J.Davis reading them. I love the connection between Angie and Patrick so I may not buy in released order. On the fence and I am depending on the book reviews as to the next to purchase. I like the summery for #6, but the reviewers are not happy that the wonderful J.Davis was requested to do a true Bostonian accent not used on this book. J.D. deep voice does not need to be in accented form! Not sure if this author is for me. I love the Karin Slaughter Will Trent series, but alas can not listen to them as the first couple for me were way too dark and scary. I am going to buy this author one read at a time, when I usually buy the entire series all at once. If the stories turn too dark, then no on this wonderful author.

What about Jonathan Davis’s performance did you like?

I purchased this book due to J.D. reading it. I found this talented reader on Sandra Brown's Mean Streak and have become a great fan. Mr. Davis reading voice and pace are still the best in Mean Streak. I have been downloading new authors that J.D. reads trying to find as good a listen as Mean Streak,Note: Mystery/Romance,. J.D. makes our P.I. Partners outstanding in this book. Bubba and Detectives are very good as well. Lots of fun to hear them talking.

This is a great series for the money! Cleaver, sexy and underneath a tenderness for a family. Each book is cleverly linked to another brother so you don't have to listen in the release order if you want to try one out. #1 is cleaver, but #2&3 are vying for first place for me. Each book shows enough of each brother that you can't wait for the next release.

What other book might you compare Blind Faith to and why?

For me this whole set of books about each brother is worth the money.

Have you listened to any of Karen White’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Ms white is my number #1 reader after the late great Anna Fields. Ms white's male reading voice is why I am a fan. She also delivers wit and humor like an author intended. Check out Julie James series, I own them all with Karen reading them. Listen to a few of her samples to see if you like her. Karen makes our hero Nate so hunky! Author has our hero "putting noodles on" showing what a care taker Nate is deep down.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yup, it has been a long day. I waited patiently for #3 to be released. So worth the wait. The story follows the publishers' outline.

    Any additional comments?

Audible please don't wait to record #4. This is a winner from this author and Karen white makes all the brothers as sexy and cleaver as a romance mystery should be for your loyal listeners.

If you could sum up The Cutting Room in three words, what would they be?

Intense, Focused, and Funny. This is an intense thriller story, and you can miss the wonderful humorous lines if you are doing to many things while listening. "the Bear" has them, so listen for it.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Manny, the Bear. " He was big, burley, hairy and bald" with such a great sense of humor. Tough to be a detective and still have one! Our heroine is as spunky as they get and reader really brings her spunk to life.

Have you listened to any of Angela Dawe’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I only purchased this story as I LOVE Angela's male reading voice. Yes, you have to get use to her cadence, but she brings to life any male character in a book. I love her in the Tiffany Snow series, Kade the bad boy is just as yummy as they get, and Angela really brings him to sexy life! A much lighter romance mystery than this author.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Oh yes, well ok every waking hour. Riveting and so fast paced. I listened to Plea of Insanity as that is read by my most fave reader Karen White. Again, her male voice is the best. If you like humor, check out Julie James series romance mysteries with Karen reading them.

    Any additional comments?

The next book has comments i.e.: like Karin Slaughter, You must be hard core thriller fan, which I am not so this author may not be for me. Hence the Romance Mystery notes I have.

Would you try another book from S. E. Smith and/or David Brenin?

I don't think this author is for me. The length maybe just a bit too short and story develops like an outline to a series. Author did set you up for the next book. David Brenin is a wonderful narrator and brings our hero, Hunter to life. He does a fab job on all the ladies and outstanding on Taylor. His deep voice is as wonderful as Jonathan Davis reads. Check him out.

Would you recommend Hunter's Claim to your friends? Why or why not?

The sample was so intriguing and opened like Julie Garwood's Honor's Splendor. I like many short reads and this one had lots of promise, but I felt like author or editor tried to accomplish too much in the 5 hr listen. Make no mistake, this is a romance with suspense/sci fi under tone.

    Which scene was your favorite?

when our hero gets released from his chains.

    Any additional comments?

I tried a few of the Lauren Donner stories that ran along this same theme. Those were just too underdeveloped and repetitive. Again not for me.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

This had no reviews, but was a recent release. I did not buy the Enforcer, which had good reviews, but older listen. My mistake! I took a chance on this one, but this needed better editing. It had a good outline, but it also listened like outline. So much potential in the story and characters. More mystery maybe...it seemed to be missing the "macho" of the Seals. If you like tender men, then this is for you. If a listen is about the Seals, I want it as hunky as it can get. I would consider this a tender story. Not much mystery, ok suspense maybe, but a stretch. For me, it was not worth 9 hrs of precious listening time.

Has Danger Close turned you off from other books in this genre?

I love the genre, but this author may not be for me. I know a bit more editing could have made this fantastic. Wobbling on now trying the "Enforcer". That sample was not long enough to tell if author continues to have "tender heroes", which are not for me.

What does David Brenin bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

David got such great reviews, and he did a fab job on this listen. He brought all the characters to life.

Do you think Danger Close needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

Author wrote about Seals and there can be more books with each of the Seals. However If author writes with the same level of "tenderness", not for me. This book was not a mystery, and it missed on the erotic vain, so "Tender" sums it up. The suspense was some what there, but needed better editing.

Would you listen to Cover Your Eyes again? Why?

I love the reader Karen White and I found this great mystery looking for her current read. I like a variety of Romance and Mystery. This book was a mystery first and had romance woven all through the book. This is NOT F.S.O.G type romance. Romance is subtle between H & H. The hero's siblings could have spin off stories the author could write as independents books, the tie being the family unit.

What other book might you compare Cover Your Eyes to and why?

Clever outline from the author and reader made the whole story a non-stop listen.
I am a core romance listener and have been adding lots of mysteries to my library. Sandra Browns books are closest to this type of mystery, see Mean Streak.

Which character – as performed by Karen White – was your favorite?

All of the characters were given such life by Ms White voice. I love her male voices the best and when there is sarcasm from them, it is the best. See Julie James author for the best reads from K.W. Author Jill Shelves/ K.W. reads are very good as well.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

YES, I did! I Iost some sleep over this good listen. Yes, I did figure out some of the clues, but hey isn't that what I am suppose to do? This is not a hard core mystery like Michael Connelly's but all the characters were good and added to this story. This has a large cast of females who add depth to this story and will not disappoint if you like mystery/romance type listens.

    Any additional comments?

Ms Burton, please continue to have Karen read your work. A reader can make or break a listen.
