loyality, duty, grace
Master Crais is at his very best on this one. My all time favorite, the watchman is being chased by this one and I am only on chapter 9
many different scenes get to you. Maggie getting a drink out of the big water bowl in the bathroom. Maggie protecting her Marine handler in chapter 1 had me in tears on the fwy.Our hero eating his first dinner with Maggie on the floor with her.
I am listening this first day I could download it
get any of Crais books read by James Daniels and David Stuart. I was most surprised by this reader MacLeod. He is just terrific and now joins the ranks of James Daniels. Luke Daniels did not do a good job on the last two of Crais books. Joe Pike story missed it when Luke read it. Get the Watchman. I own all of audio Crais. I hope you enjoy as much
as I have.
Intense, Focused, and Funny. This is an intense thriller story, and you can miss the wonderful humorous lines if you are doing to many things while listening. "the Bear" has them, so listen for it.
Manny, the Bear. " He was big, burley, hairy and bald" with such a great sense of humor. Tough to be a detective and still have one! Our heroine is as spunky as they get and reader really brings her spunk to life.
I only purchased this story as I LOVE Angela's male reading voice. Yes, you have to get use to her cadence, but she brings to life any male character in a book. I love her in the Tiffany Snow series, Kade the bad boy is just as yummy as they get, and Angela really brings him to sexy life! A much lighter romance mystery than this author.
Oh yes, well ok every waking hour. Riveting and so fast paced. I listened to Plea of Insanity as that is read by my most fave reader Karen White. Again, her male voice is the best. If you like humor, check out Julie James series romance mysteries with Karen reading them.
The next book has comments i.e.: like Karin Slaughter, You must be hard core thriller fan, which I am not so this author may not be for me. Hence the Romance Mystery notes I have.
I don't think this author is for me. The length maybe just a bit too short and story develops like an outline to a series. Author did set you up for the next book. David Brenin is a wonderful narrator and brings our hero, Hunter to life. He does a fab job on all the ladies and outstanding on Taylor. His deep voice is as wonderful as Jonathan Davis reads. Check him out.
The sample was so intriguing and opened like Julie Garwood's Honor's Splendor. I like many short reads and this one had lots of promise, but I felt like author or editor tried to accomplish too much in the 5 hr listen. Make no mistake, this is a romance with suspense/sci fi under tone.
when our hero gets released from his chains.
I tried a few of the Lauren Donner stories that ran along this same theme. Those were just too underdeveloped and repetitive. Again not for me.
This had no reviews, but was a recent release. I did not buy the Enforcer, which had good reviews, but older listen. My mistake! I took a chance on this one, but this needed better editing. It had a good outline, but it also listened like outline. So much potential in the story and characters. More mystery maybe...it seemed to be missing the "macho" of the Seals. If you like tender men, then this is for you. If a listen is about the Seals, I want it as hunky as it can get. I would consider this a tender story. Not much mystery, ok suspense maybe, but a stretch. For me, it was not worth 9 hrs of precious listening time.
I love the genre, but this author may not be for me. I know a bit more editing could have made this fantastic. Wobbling on now trying the "Enforcer". That sample was not long enough to tell if author continues to have "tender heroes", which are not for me.
David got such great reviews, and he did a fab job on this listen. He brought all the characters to life.
Author wrote about Seals and there can be more books with each of the Seals. However If author writes with the same level of "tenderness", not for me. This book was not a mystery, and it missed on the erotic vain, so "Tender" sums it up. The suspense was some what there, but needed better editing.
I love the reader Karen White and I found this great mystery looking for her current read. I like a variety of Romance and Mystery. This book was a mystery first and had romance woven all through the book. This is NOT F.S.O.G type romance. Romance is subtle between H & H. The hero's siblings could have spin off stories the author could write as independents books, the tie being the family unit.
Clever outline from the author and reader made the whole story a non-stop listen.
I am a core romance listener and have been adding lots of mysteries to my library. Sandra Browns books are closest to this type of mystery, see Mean Streak.
All of the characters were given such life by Ms White voice. I love her male voices the best and when there is sarcasm from them, it is the best. See Julie James author for the best reads from K.W. Author Jill Shelves/ K.W. reads are very good as well.
YES, I did! I Iost some sleep over this good listen. Yes, I did figure out some of the clues, but hey isn't that what I am suppose to do? This is not a hard core mystery like Michael Connelly's but all the characters were good and added to this story. This has a large cast of females who add depth to this story and will not disappoint if you like mystery/romance type listens.
Ms Burton, please continue to have Karen read your work. A reader can make or break a listen.
I just started listening to this book and can tell it is a winner, dialogue is fast and story is moving quickly. Our hero has already melted my heart when he rescues John Doe dog.
Our heroine has a range of emotions and a sharp tongue for which she puts to good use, reader Karen White's best reading feature,.
Judith McNaught's Every Breath You Take. Same arrogant type hero/personality. I have listened to J.McN book at least 3 times, it is that good. All of Ms McNaught's books are classics!
I purchased this book as Karen White is one of my top readers and this book was a new release for her. See her Julie James series and Jill Shalvis animal series. Karen's male voice and her ability to bring out the wit of an author is her top feature. Listen to Julie James samples to see if you like K.W. Check out Rebecca Zanetti's series too. Karen knocks that out of the park.
I have not purchased book #1 as the reader sounds like Kathleen Early and #1 is the only book reader lists. If this author/story turns out to be terrific, then I will buy it. Author/Audible, please have Karen White read the next installment if there is one.
Mixed on both author and reader. It took me 4 tries to listen and I can't get into it. Author has cute dialogue and HJ did some justice, but like another reviewer said, HJ does NO MALE voice at all so you can't get into the story. HJ does have a good cadence for humor, but must work on her male voice.
the author understands humor and that would have come across much stronger, but same voice pattern for all characters killed it.
Karen White, Tatiana Sokolov or Angela Dawe
You can tell author understands humor IE: title of this story which intrigued me to buy. The first couple of chapters are good, but the reading voice made me stop listening and starting over about 3-4 times. I quit, as I have hundreds of new listens I want to hear.
No Abigail Roux, YES Sean. Sean great reading voice saved this story, well I have 6 hrs to go as I write these notes. Not sure what I expected, but this seemed like the men's characters were written from a woman point of view of what gay lovers should be like. I felt like the author was trying to convey the 2 FBI guys feminine or gentle side. This was not for me.
Unless this starts getting better, I don't know if I want to listen to 6 more hrs. The synopsis lead me to believe this was a mystery not delving into the femine side of two partners who are coping with a long term relationship issues. I tried a m/m story written by a man, but it was too strong for me. I thought a woman may have a clever hand at writing this genre, but this author's take is not for me.
Ty's interaction with Julian's Maine Coon cats.
In the few chapters I have listened, there is potential for good humor, but the emotional portion is just too sappy for me. It just seemed like dialogue a woman would say to another woman.
I chose this book as the other reviewers said it was the best. Huh!
this had a good outline and characters. I have not listened to #1 & 2 as they were recorded in earlier years and I wanted to experience readers' current recording cadence closes to 2014. I thought author spent too much time referring to #1 & 2 and not staying with the story a bit more in-depth. the 3 stories had a lot of information that connects the whole novel, but at times sounded more of an outline. I have more of this author in my wish list due to some good readers.
this is not my genre, I am a core romance listener, but am desperate to hear more of JD voice telling me a story. The characters are great, and book1 & 2 may do better justice to them. Author has a way of spinning a tale and this books' ending did not disappoint.
I love JD reading abilities. His 2014 deep cadence in Sandra Browns' Mean Streak, was so great, I have been trying to find other reads/authors that his voice can do justice to the story. JD performance saved this story. JD is his main stream name. I do not know if he has a romance or erotic A.K.A. name, but I would love it if someone would point out that name. i.e.: sean crisen aka dan john miller of Nora Roberts the Pagan stone, hot.
I will keep searching JD reads until I can ID his voice on the audible samples. Dana story may be good as she is tough and smart as a whip. She actually is the glue to this story, not Brad. Book 1 & 2 may showcase Brad more, but you have to buy the books to know.
ps: Clarance is just plain creepy, but adds to this story. Side note: this is my 2nd read from this author. So far After Dark seems the best story read by Angela Dawe, you will need a tissue.
These are good short stories that take you out of the daily grind
When heroine first discovers Jamie's under cover issues
She has a great male reading voice she has developed under this aka name for tanya eby.
She has also learned better reading cadence in her recent reads.
The are not worth a credit, so wait for 25% sale and get them all as I did.
I am a long time fan of author. I have moved on to Phillip margolin for a mystery as these are romance with a little mystery. The other two stories were not as good as this one. Ms garwood spends too much dialog trying to get you interested in the other books in the series so I maybe moving on.
Good sarcastic humor in this story. I purchased as Tanya Eby reads this one with much improvement. The pace was faster and it made all the difference for making this a good listen. I like her male voices the best. Check out her reads as Tatiana Sokolov, hot!
When all the men discribe Cordies' looks in the hospital. I love Adian hard work ethic and attitude.
Good Garwood. Check out Angela Dawes read of garwoods "I.R.S." perfect Garwood style.
