good old fashion wit, and sexy flirtatious dialogue. Garwood's old humor comes out!
I have made up excuses to stay in the car so I can listen longer. This is light listening and a good show of a group of girls/ladies who have stuck by each other. Ms Dawe is not a new reader. She does tend to up turn her voice at the end of some sentences, but her fast pace makes up for this. Great for a long drive. You must be an Garwood fan of her contemporary stories. I have purchased Sizzle and I am only on chapter 4 on this book. I wanted to give Garwood fans a brief report.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

The Author had too much background information on ethnic characters, which for me, made the story drag. I wanted a fast pace mystery and got a history lesson.
If not for the reader, who made this story come to life, no his author is not for me.
I listened to the re recorded sample of this book, with another reader, and he is too slow. With this drawn out story, which for me, not other reviewers, seem to need better editing.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

This seemed to play like the old "Key Stone Cops" silent movie scripts. I did like the relationship of our main hero/heroine, but it took so long for me to realize they were the main characters that I found myself saying "just finish" as you like anything J.D. reads. I purchased 2 yrs ago, and listened without re reading the outline, my mistake. The relationship between Lucy and Vietnamese man was stellar.

Which character – as performed by James Daniels – was your favorite?

I love J.D. narration which was the only reason I purchased this author, see Robert Crais series with Elvis Cole= FUN

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

    yes as it plays well

If you could sum up Total Surrender in three words, what would they be?

Fallen, Steel, AngelsAuthor paints a clear, macho hero that is determined. All the heroines add to each story. If you like a series, then buy in the order they came out, but #1,2,3 bring you to this book.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Total Surrender?

When the brothers re-unite. All the books have a prologue that breaks your heart and sets the stage for the book. These prologues compel you to buy the 4 books. I really wished this series came out all at once, as I now have to go back and re listen to book #1 &2. Thank you Audible for taking our recommendation to bring book #4 out shortly after #3.

What about Karen White’s performance did you like?

I found book #1 due to this reader. I am a devoted fan of her reads. See Julie James series and Jill Shalvis Animal series read by Karen. Her Males voices are to die for. She makes our heroes oh so sexy in this series that you will buy all 4 stories. Mattie and Jory are my fave!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

    "Never Give Up, Never Alone"

    Any additional comments?

I hope this author has more books that reader Karen White can bring to life for devoted audible fans.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

For reader YES, which is why I purchased, author not so much. This had 9 hrs to tell a story and is was a great spend. It however had lots to be developed or maybe cut out. The author had a lot to say, which should have been developed or left out. This has all the elements of a good mystery and a romance novel, but due to length and dvelopement author needed a bit better editing.
If other brothers/series are produced with Todd H. reading, then yes, I would buy.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

The ending was no surprise, more of a romance than a mystery. See Phillip Margolin's After Dark for a wow ending.

What does Todd Haberkorn bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

T.H. is a.k.a. MacLoud Andrews. See Nora Roberts Inn series , Robert Crais Suspect, and Brad Parks series is good under M.A. T.H. does a lot of work with Tatiana Sokolov =Hot

Did Game of Fear inspire you to do anything?

Yup, to remember everything has an unintended consequence

    Any additional comments?

Audible, I would bring out the other brothers books with T.H. reading them. Book #1 is not a reader I buy at all.

I love Angela Dawe male reading voice and found this author. Good use of imagination and this fantasy genre. Had some humor and would like to see more i.e. charcoal briquet status

What other book might you compare Darkness Bound to and why?

shorter version and a bit better twist on Christine Feehan's type stories

Which character – as performed by Angela Dawe – was your favorite?

Lucas and the White Dragon. Jack our hero was great as she is tough as nails.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

yes, I did and the part where Jack trades places makes you bring out a tissue.

    Any additional comments?

I have been buying a few series out of order as I try a new author by sale or by rating code. This allows a listener not to have to invest in a series they may not like, but you have to go back to #1 if you really like the characters. Audible, please put more #1 books of series on sale.

Love Carter, Deadline, and Tommy. All bring the story to a series level. I am not sure if this author is for me, so I will not be buying the other books which don't have M.A. reading them.

What about MacLeod Andrews’s performance did you like?

I am on a MacLeod Andrew run. M.A. brought all the characters in this series to great life. His AKA Todd Haberkorn is for erotic and other genres which push the edge. His Nora Roberts and Robert Crais reads are wonderful

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Carter realized his article started all the destruction

Would you try another book from Rita Herron and/or Tanya Eby?

I am on a Tanya Eby run of books so this author came up. One reviewer I follow also read it. However, this book did not inspire me to get Jake and Amelia's story #1 & #3 books.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

I am not a core mystery listener, so unlike many mystery fans who have strong opinions, I could not put my finger on what this story needed. It had a good outline, and to me, the listen came off just like an outline. It lacked or had too much of certain elements that a good editor should have caught, expounded or eliminated.

Which character – as performed by Tanya Eby – was your favorite?

Ms Eby has really developed her deeper males voices now, hence the Eby run of books for me. Catch her on her Tatiana Sokolov reads, wonderful!

What would have made this romance irresistible?

This was NOT a core romance! It had brutal sex scenes for our villain which was part of the mystery, but the romance was just an outline and only for-filled in the last quarter of the book. Telling a reader how much each character longed for their intended does not equal a romance story.

Struck by the opportunity to write a heroic piece about an everyday woman killed too young, he heads to her wake to gather tributes and anecdotes. It’s the last place Ross expects to find controversy - which is exactly what happens when one of Nancy’s sisters convinces him that the accident might not have been accidental at all.

What did you like best about The Girl Next Door? What did you like least?

I loved the cat! This had a mystery to be sure, but our hero was a little too weak for my tastes. You must be in the mood for sarcastic humor on this one.

Would you be willing to try another book from Brad Parks? Why or why not?

I purchased another book, one on sale, based on other reviewers liking this author before I actually listened to this one. Not sure if this author is for me. Reader is the reason I did take a chance on this author. Plus, reviewers said this had humor. For me, the jury is still out. I just got off a Philip Margolin run so this author maybe too domestic for me.

Which character – as performed by MacLeod Andrews – was your favorite?

M.A. is a genius with voices and he saved this listen for me. He also reads as Todd Haberkorn for erotica/ romances. His work on Robert Crais Suspect was excellant.

Did The Girl Next Door inspire you to do anything?

Where does Asylum Harbor and Burn Out rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I am on a Angela Dawe listening binge and found this author's work. Pretty good story telling. Angela good range of voices brings this tale to life. If you read/listened to Linda Howards' Cry No More, this mini series runs along that story line. It has so much potential to add lots of different mysteries for our heroine to solve. It is not on the par of Ms Howard, but could get there. These stories are more like Tami Hoag current work in short format.

Would you be willing to try another book from Traci Hohenstein? Why or why not?

Book #4 is read by another reader, than Angela Dawe, so no. For me it is about the reader, not just the story. #1 read a bit like Ernest Hemingway very precise and fast. I am on #2 as I write this review, and it's reading like an outline so far. I don't know if the pace will pick up but I love the readers' voice so I don't care. I would think the author should add just a bit more to her stories as she has the talent to hold a listener.

    Which scene was your favorite?

this author can evoke lots of emotion in different scenes both in book #1 & 2, so she should expand just a bit more. i.e. in book #1 mike and our heroine could have had some good banter or humor as there was no romance in this novel. In book 2, our missing person's husband evokes so much emotion in the first few chapters that I am glued to my head set. I write this review to take a break.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

actually the stories do fit TV series format. Used before "Gone But Not Forgotten"

    Any additional comments?

This author is sold at my "buy now price, never a credit." and is good entertainment for the money.

Fast, Clever, and Tender! Starts out like Robert Redfords' 3 days of the Condor so if you like that premise, this will not disappoint. If you are a die hard mystery fan this may not be enough for you. However, it was entertaining and kept you tuned into the story.

What other book might you compare The Widow File to and why?

Our hit man had a tender side i.e. Julie Garwoods Romance Sizzle. This is a cross between a mystery and romance or Angie Jolie's Salt character.

What does Tanya Eby bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Ms Eby has gotten so much richer in her male voices and she does not disappoint in this 2 book series. Catch her as A.K.A. Tatiana Sokolov

yes, I did listen in one sitting as the pace was so fast. This was pure entertainment and a quick course on always planning ahead. Had some good ideas

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I purchased this on sale at a bargain so 37 hrs is a lot of how to get things done if you were a spy or want to do covert missions. I finished 8 hrs of Flee and started on book #2 as I write this review. I am not sure I can listen to all 37 hrs straight through if like #1. Each book gets longer and #3 is 17 hrs! Flee had lots of action and the gore was kept to a minimum, which I am grateful. Flee was worth the 8 hrs of listening time. See other reviewers comments which were spot on as to the content.

Would you be willing to try another book from J. A. Konrath and Ann Voss Peterson ? Why or why not?

I wanted to try the Jack Daniels series for the humor, but reviewers said too graphic.

Have you listened to any of Angela Dawe’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I love Angela Dawe's male reading voice so this was part of a buying spree of this reader I went on when I finished Tiffany Snow series by this reader. Beware: you have to get use to her female style, then you get hooked like I did as her male voices are yummy. Reader does a great job of bring the characters to life for the 37 hrs invested.

Do you think Codename: Chandler Trilogy needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

this is 3 books in 1, so authors can do other stories to add to series. I would love to see more humor as was done the "Jack Daniels' series. It sounded like fun, but the gore put me off and I would not purchase that series. This team has lots of potential so put some humor in the Chandler character. Hint: authors had time for the cat and "Victor".
