What would have made The Big Boom better?

I listened to Sandra Brown, Mean Steak and wanted another read from reader. This author is just not for me. After 3 hrs, I just had to stop. If the pace was twice as fast, it could MAYBE have saved this read.

What do you think your next listen will be?

I am trying to find another good author by this reader.

Have you listened to any of Jonathan Davis’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Not sure why J.D. read this work so slow. It was a waste of his great talent. Mean Streak was so fast pace, that I listened to it straight through. Some author's may tell reader what they want in the read. If so, slow is just not doing it.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The Big Boom?

I am not a fair judge of this author as this is not my genre.

Dr. Emory Charbonneau, a pediatrician and marathon runner, disappears on a mountain road in North Carolina. By the time her husband Jeff, miffed over a recent argument, reports her missing, the trail has grown cold. Literally. Fog and ice encapsulate the mountainous wilderness and paralyze the search for her. While police suspect Jeff of "instant divorce," Emory, suffering from an unexplained head injury, regains consciousness and finds herself the captive of a man whose violent past is so dark that he won't even tell her his name.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Oh yes! If you are a long time fan of S.B.,like I am, then you will love her new adventure. If you are new to S.B., then you need to read reviews. She writes a light mystery with romance, and make no mistake, the small bit of romance can be hot in some of her reads. No one writes a few hot scenes, better than S.B. This one has some hot ones, Oh boy! These are not FSOG type listens.

What did you like best about this story?

S.B. can write with multiple character scenarios going on, so if you do not like following that type of writing, then beware, this has it. For a long time fan, this was well done, and up there in top 5.

What about Jonathan Davis’s performance did you like?

Oh my, how yummy he reads this story! The pace was wonderfully fast, and it made the time fly by and engrossed you in the story. I just did not want it to end. Reader has a list of books, most in the full credit range, so you know his value. S.B. got him on a bargain on this read. I love romance and I can only hope audible, has this reader do more. His female voice is very good, and most males readers can not pull it off. His male voice is too die for and can make your toes curl during the hot scenes.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

S.B. books can leave you with a lasting impression that makes you want to re listen when time permits. She was a core romance writer before going main stream, hence the few hot scenes can be as erotic as all get out. She knows how to make the hero as sexy as can be in just a few words.

    Any additional comments?

if you enjoy this book, then try witness, white hot my fave, and smoke screen. Chill factor has some of of this read same element, but it is still very different. Sandra, well done on this one!

Would you be willing to try another book from Rachel Gibson? Why or why not?

I purchased quite a few all at once and most are very good. A couple are just too slow of a listen due to reader's pace

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Emma Bates?

Susan Bennett or S. El Attar would be better. I do not like Nicole Poole either for this series.

What would have made Only Pleasure better?

Well, after hearing Only Pleasure for the 50th time in the first 2 hrs on rapid speed, I just had to stop. Yes, L.L. can write a hot story and I wanted to hear Kalid's interest, but gads enough already and do some good writing!

What was most disappointing about Lora Leigh’s story?

this had the potential for a good story, but I am done w/ L.L. stories! Burned once too often

Would you be willing to try another one of Clarissa Knightly’s performances?

ABSOLUTELY NOT! She is awful for me. I thought I could tolerate her one more time as I wanted to listen to this book, however, she is over the top for me. I had to speed up the listen as she is just too slow and breathy for me.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

What did you like best about Once Upon a Kiss? What did you like least?

the author had a great outline, but she could not decide to make this a historical mystery or
or a romance. It started out good, but the author just does not have the McNaught, Garwood or K.W. gift of a great historical.

Has Once Upon a Kiss turned you off from other books in this genre?

Absolutely not! Audible has not gotten the all time best from Kathleen Weidowess, and Judith McNaught. Since these are not available, I thought I would give this author a try based on description.
A waste of my valuable listening time. This could have been cut down to 6 hrs.

What about Braden Wright’s performance did you like?

great male voice to be sure. not so good on female. He should be paired with a good female read.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

no, not the way it was edited. This had so much potential.

Where does Any Man of Mine rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This ranks high up there. If you like this one try Jill Shalvis, Rumor has it. This story is one of the best of the 9 books, I purchased all at once.

What did you like best about this story?

Sam and Connor's dialogue. It will make you bark laughter out loud. Not all of the R.G. readers did this. I did not like Emma Bates. Susan Bennett was good and K.Early was too.

Have you listened to any of Kathe Mazur’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

She is one of the best of R.G. books readers. yes, she miss pronounced Savage, but she more than made up for it in getting the designer names correct! She brought both Sam and Connor to big screen life. Kathe, made good use of the R.G. dialogue and made for a good sexy and LOL listen. She will not disappoint YOU

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Gads, this would make a fun and sexy movie, Cupcakes or Muffin

    Any additional comments?

I did put this reader on my to buy list, she is that good. Audible, put her on humor or sassy dialogue reads, please.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

yes, all the cursing from the heroine took away from a good listen. I own a lot of bad boy books I purchased, but this author is not for me. I read the top 5 reviews and purchased since I love a good Irish or Scottish story, but I am at ch. 6 and had to stop! Another reviewer, maybe 10 down said if over 30, you may have issues with listening. Yup!
The author may have a good story to tell, but the heroine does nothing but act like a spoiled girl who curses unnecessarily. Good writing can tell a story without this much bad language. I listened to a couple of bad boy biker stories, and yes, every sentence had bad language, but that was expected for the genre.

What was most disappointing about Samantha Young’s story?

A good editor would have told ms Young to use either humor or more wit instead of foul language so much. Nothing wrong with cursing if it adds to the picture.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

I can not stand this reader female voice. Her male voice is good, which was why I lasted to ch. 6. Her Irish voice is good but, I had to stop as her American voice was such a turn off for me. I have tons of books to be listened to and just did not want to put up with the lead female character or voice.

What would have made this romance irresistible?

Just a bit better editing, and more humor and sassy dialogue. This author is on the right track.

Would you consider the audio edition of At First Sight to be better than the print version?

    I like Audio over print.

If you’ve listened to books by Patrice Wilton before, how does this one compare?

This is my first P.W. listen. She had a good outline and story to tell. However, this story is not my taste for heroines. I like strong women who know how to make a choice. If you like stories where the heroine is trying to find her path, then this is for you. Our hero is a man trying to re define his life and author portrays his story well. Too much indecision on the part of our heroine for me. Ms Wilton, get a better editor. A good editor could help you reach your full potential as you have a good imagination/story to tell.

How could the performance have been better?

I am not a fan of this reader. Her male voice is her only redeeming quality for me. Reader followed the author's read very well, she is just not my taste for lot of books to own.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Several, which is why this book could have used a bit better editing to be great. When Sam our hero dog helps in two fights. When our hero tries to go out to buy coffee on his own. Ms Wilton, you have what it takes.

    Any additional comments?

I purchased as this was a story about a blind person trying to over come. The cost is good so give this book a try. I did enjoy the parts when the heroine is strong and direct.

yes, I did listen twice, as I missed some good parts the first time. S.B. writes a mystery, so you can miss some clues if you are multi-tasking.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

yes, as this has a bit of a thriller in the story.

Which character – as performed by Victor Slezak – was your favorite?

Victor Slezak and S.B. books are an automatic download for me. I own all of this reads on downloads/MP3 of Ms Browns. He is the best of the SB readers. I just wish Audible would get White Hot in full length. This is my all time fave of SB with Victor stealing the show!
