Yes. This is one I would say I liked more BECAUSE of the Narrator.

Everything. I loved the prose, the way R's thoughts were articulated through verse, the angsty refreshing vibrancy of Julie's character, the plot, and storyline, the humor (laugh out loud, chuckle, snort, giggle, etc.) and the relaxing narration by Kevin Kenerly. He nailed it.This book is hard to describe. It is complex for sure. Surprisingly.

I actually cried during the scene where John Lennon's lyrics "Nothing's going to change my world..." were playing in the background while both main characters had realized that EVERYTHING about their world had changed.

Definitely Perry...I would ask if he would change anything knowing how everything turned out.

I REALLY got "into" this book. It is definitely not just some superficial teen zombie romance book. It is very emotional & a book lover's FEAST. More like a buffet. It has a little bit of everything. And of course, the humor, the youthful hope for a better world, the internal monologue of "R", and love "M"'s character too.MORE PLEASE, MR. Isaac Marion.

The narrator has a gentle, subtle, seemingly unscripted way of acting. I love her. Her voice is very relaxing.

WOW. Can I just say wow? Wow.....
I'm 19 chapters in and this book has me wide awake at midnight, heart beating fast, and stopping because I feel COMPELLED to write SOMETHING it.

No I'm not finished yet but I already know I'm giving it 5 stars. I would give it 10 if I could.

I thought this would be another maybe kinda sorta good book to pass the time until a really good meaty one comes along like, say, Laini Taylor last book in the DOSAB series...but although it might not be 'meaty', it's most CERTAINLY filling.
I didn't think I would like this so much!!! In fact, I don't merely like it, I LOVE IT.

This book resonates well with me. I have a Christian background and am pretty dogmatic about doctrine. I have this belief that doctrine is pretty darn important so when I read a book about heaven or hell or angels and demons, I either cringe when the doctrine is way off or just made up and lose interest or ,if I really love the story and realize the doctrine isn't intended to be anywhere near what's described in the bible, then I just enjoy the story for what it is.

But although this story has fictional events (I'm so jealous over the concept! I wish my pea brain could come up with such a believable yet incredible concept!!!), every time it mentions biblical history, it has been spot on.
No cringing. No eye-rolling. Nothing but just a swoosh of relief, mixed with adoration toward the Author for researching, and a huge rush of joy that I'm reading a book I love, that keeps getting better and better, isn't at all preachy, and has some amazing characters that I would love to know in person!

I'm at a point in the book where 3 or 4 game changers just happened and I'm starting to wonder about all the awesome twists and turns the plot can go from here. I guess I didn't realize that Anna and Kai's budding romance-ish love could go anywhere but in the earth with Romeo and Juliet, but now....POSSIBILITIES!!! Yesssssss.
And now dare I say some ACTION??!! Badass heroine ass-kicking action? And more steamy hot tension for sure!!!!

Read this book and decide if it connects with you the way it has with me. It's definitely in the same realm as the Fever series (but differently), and it's definitely in the same realm as the Laini Taylor books IMHO (but differently).

Overall, it's refreshing and listening to it on audio has made the characters come alive and improved upon the story, thanks to the very "well done" acting by the narrator.

Ok, I'm done. I will try not to gush like a total fan girl anymore. At least until I've finished the book. And maybe again after I finish each book in the series. :)

I didn't want to read this at first because I thought it would be glorifying the white trash culture with vulgarity and sleaziness, but she's not white trash at all. Just poor. Big difference. Now, her boyfriend, yes...white trash.
