I love the intricate stories and themes of Alastair Reynolds. But I could listen to John Lee read the phone book.
Reynolds has a fantastic imagination. His books start slow, and he throws a lot of exposition at you. But if you stick with him, the effort is worth it.
John Lee is always good.
Neither. But it made me want to continue the series.
Try "The Prefect." It's superb.
