Honestly, I listened to the first couple of hours and could not take any more. This is the first time that has ever happened to me so... I have listened to some poorly written stories in my day, but this has taken it to a new level.
I am supposed to entertain the idea that in the future pizza delivery is a life threatening job that if you don't get it there in thirty minutes or less you could be executed, honestly? So the first two hours talks about some kid driving like a maniac to get a pizza somewhere on time. I found it very difficult to get wrapped up in that story line, not to mention the flow was annoying. There was nothing to make you care, or even relate to the main characters.
Even in a fantasy world it just seems ridiculous. It is juvenile to the extreme. If your a sixteen year old pizza delivery kid, you might like this one. If you like modern art (especially the blank white canvas), you might think Neal Stephenson is " a writer who defies comparison - a writer so original he redefines the way we look at the world". Me, I would like my credit and two hours of my life back.
