Ok I admire the author for writing about her great grandmother. HOWEVER, how you can take a time like the turn of the century, in Indochina, and a love that rips a family apart and make it so undiscriptive, I will never know. This author , probably without meaning to , has painted her gg as a person who is never satisfied even with the man she loved. She must have driven him mad with her constant second guessing. We are only unhappy when we settle for less. I am sure her grandmother was a fine person, but she is painted as an unsettled whiner. May a film director can take this story and make it good by adding soul and color as they ;did for "The Lover", it is not here by this author , in this book.

Not a bad book. Different plot, likeable characters. However, could someone tell the author that girls do not have Adams apples.
Just too unbelievable, too gory, and I really do not like the snotty know it all characters. The story had some good points ,but to few to get me past the unbelievable TV like forensics and access to information. Doesn't really happen.
I do not know, seems like story is good with describing characters( I like that) but most conversations seem to be distracting tactics and red herring situations. You might say a good example of red herring mystery writing.
This could have been a darn good book. Loved the identifying corpse via earring and final (but unbelievable) ending. Most of the book was taken up with the mystery of which handsome man gets beautiful but struggling woman. No porn or sex though (good thing) Just too much who is the winner and 'this person could have done it because' speculation.(Anne Perry style speculation filler) Give up more clues and let us figure it out for ourselves.
The reader did 1 good voice. However, she never separated Chapters and there was little separation between characters lines. One would be talking and then all of the sudden a different character was telling their story.
I hope you do not start with this book in the series. Definately not my favorite, maybe because I already know the stories of that hurricane and do not like ghost stories ( really don't) The rest of the series is great.
I noticed they did not put my first revue in but if this is sold as mystery ,I think people should know there is a lot of very baudy sex and sex talk in the book. It might even sell it quicker. Dirty dirty, I had to read it twice to make sure. LOL
Just Blarney stone and psychobabble. Not a real mystery at all. Could have been good but the blarney was and easy out for and explanation.
nothing to add
quit wirting please.....
.She enjoyed the pron huffing and puffing
.Maybe less sex.....
Porn. More Porn than story
Maybe a better writter could have done something with the good components of this book. Very Anne Perry in its rehashing details and events between principle characters. Hard to tell when locations and times switch.
