"Truly enjoyable"
I wasn't too sure about the narrator at first. After I got used to her voices for the different characters I was totally engrosed. Fawn and Dag are wonderful. They seem to be an odd couple for many reasons. Fawn is young and seeming immature, but she soon starts showing a wisdom beyond her years. Dag is patient and brave. They encounter and overcome many obsticles while beginning their romance. Ms Bujold is a very talented writer, she's able to build multidimensional characters and describle worlds beautifully. This is one of my favorite series, I have listened to all of the volumes and I cannot wait for more.
"Enjoyable Romp through the History of English"
I found this book to be quite entertaining and informative. This is not the type of book I usually listen to, but the topic intrigued me so I thought I'd give it a try. I'm glad I did. The author/narrator had a well fleshed out theory about the origins of the English language. All of his ideas were quite reasonable and believable. He is also an entertaining narrator. This could have been a dry somewhat boring topic, but his added humor and pleasant voice kept me listening.
Never listened to John McWhorter before, but I would again.
"Fantastic read/listen"
Love, Love, Love this series. This was the first book I purchased from Audible. I am hooked. I usually read, but this has changed my perfered method of reading. The characters are all likeable and well developed. The world created by Snyder is interesting and I found myself wrapped up in it. I listened to the next 2 books soon after this one. I was sorry when it ended but was satisfied with it. I am hoping for more books in this series. If you go to the author's web site she has posted additional short stories about the supporting characters. The narrator did a good job and changed the characters voices well.
