C. Faircloth

I'd actually like to give this two and a half stars. I kind of liked the basic storyline but so much of it consisted of characters praying and 'talking to god' and asking for miracles that it was kind of slow. I'm not against praying/religion/faith at all but it seemed like overkill - probably on every page in the print version. It made the characters seem one-dimensional.

I did like to hear her interpretation of what might be going on inside the mind of an autistic boy, but won't probably listen to another of Kingsbury's book s

I couldn't get into this book. The premise was interesting and some of the characters were appealing but I felt like the story jumped around too much--and without enough transition from place to place or time to time. This gave the story a disjointed feeling for me.

I kept listening to this one, because I was curious about the outcome, but it was something I had to make myself do. Usually I look forward to walking or going for a drive because of the story I'm 'reading' but this one didn't grab me and I had to force myself to keep going.

I don't know how much of a difference it would have made to have read the other Darwin book (didn't realize there WAS a previous storyline) but if you haven't read it I don't really recommend this one.

This is one of my favorite audiobooks ever!

The reader does a great job with the various characters and I enjoyed his voice very much. The dual plot, with events happening both in the present and the past hooked me right away. As usual, Crichton explains his scientific background material in an easy-to-understand fashion.

The characters are well-developed and interesting. This was a page-turner when I read it in print (more than once) and the audiobook kept me hooked (and I walked much farther and put in many more hours at the gym) while I was listening (again, more than once).

The movie was such a disappointment. It didn't do justice to the story and, in fact, changed the story immensely. This is a must-read for anyone who enjoys history, anyone who enjoys action, and anyone who enjoys science-fiction.

This book was much different than Timeline, more along the lines of Disclosure. The book centers on one character who I found very engaging. I was rooting for her to overcome the conspiracy against her and solve the problem facing her!

Crichton again includes lots of background info--scientific in nature--and he explains it in terms I was able to understand. For Crichton fans this is a must-read!
