No discussion of great modern authors is complete without mention of Cormac McCarthy, whose rare and blazing talent makes his every work a true literary event. A grand addition to the American literary canon, Suttree introduces readers to Cornelius Suttree, a man who abandons his affluent family to live among a dissolute array of vagabonds along the Tennessee river.

Riley A. Vann says: "Challenging Read/Listen, Narrator Outstanding"
"My God! It's a good book!"

If you could sum up Suttree in three words, what would they be?

Perhaps the best yet from McCarthy, which is saying a lot. Amazing ... a master of words. A book that I will listen to again and again.

299 Days: The Preparation, the first audiobook in the 299 Days series, depicts the inner struggles Grant must face as he exists in a social system he recognizes as unsustainable and on the verge of collapse, but one in which he has built his life around. What begins as a return to his roots, self-sufficiency and independence, becomes a full blown move to prepare for what may come.

Les says: "The most accurate "PREPPER" story ever written!!!"
"Didn't like it ... but influenced by it."

Where does 299 Days rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Either this guy, (the author) is a nut or a visionary. 'Maybe' you owe it to yourself to hear what he has to say and make your own decision. I want to convince myself that he is a "nut" and that we can just roll along living life, and not need to worry about the government destroying the economy. However, now that I have read this, (and I almost wish I hadn't) I've got this little voice telling me to start stock piling food, guns and gold. DAMN! Try to get past the beer drinking and gun obsessiveness. Honestly, I don't know if this is a "good book." (probably not in the classic sense) but it sure managed to unsettle me. Didn't want to read it, but was compelled to read till the end. Not entertaining, more a compulsion.
