A shallow, unimaginative novel. The plot is soooo cliche'; the protagonists are almost as unlikeable as the villains; and, the ending is weak. The only reason I gave it two stars is because the narrator does a fine job. However, good narration cannot save a poor novel.
Spurgeon presents a powerful, intelligent, and insightful call to be reconciled to God and find true life. Direct, thought-provoking, heart-penetrating, passionate, and loving without compromise. Vance is excellent in his narration - with tone and cadence that demonstrates understanding of the author's intent, that illuminates the text, and that adds value to the experience. This truly is a must for the Christian and for the seeker. One of the most rewarding books I have ever listened to or read.
