I love this entire series!
Yes! It sucked me in and I had a hard time turning it off to get out of my car and go to work!
This was one of my favorite books to listen to, the reader did a great job with voice change to match the scene.
This was a great book but parts were hard to listen to. It created the emotions that it intended to though and I guess that's the point. Without those unpleasant emotions, it wouldn't have been as good. There were parts that make me roll my eyes (at the characters antics) and parts that made me grip my steering wheel. I love when a storie is so well developed that it makes you actually feel sorry for the villains (at times). I was actually a little irritated with the ending ... until the actual ending, and my irritation, while not replaced with happiness, was at least calmed. Overall this is a really great book. One of the few I would actually listen to again.
I tend to read too fast and miss some of the little nuances in a book. So when I can (driving, flying, waiting at appointments, etc.) I like to listen to a book I've already read, often discovering I missed something important my first time through!
Joe Mantegna did a FANTASTIC job reading this story and the drama in his voice added a lot (as opposed to when I read the hardback). He invoked strong emotion in me that the voice in my head when I'm reading a hardback didn't bring forth.
However, the music that was played at the ending to a chapter was horrible! A lot of the time it started too soon and drowned out Joe's voice and I think it lasted too long. It was a weird screeching noise that I didn't like at all. It's because of that I've started checking out reviews before purchasing to make 100% sure there is no music in any of the books I'm considering. It was just awful.
How the main character grew and hardened over time.
I loved the ending but hated it at the same time.
