I liked the contrast of images of a muscled, untamed man on the open steppes and a woman caught in a different time. This is a love story that brings two different people together with a connection that transcends all else. I read the book before I listened to the audio and this is my go-to book for classic steamy romance.

This book is explicit and has some domination and bondage incorporated into it. It flows well and isn't like your modern Fifty Shades type of BDSM - it's more primal and natural. But make no mistake, the sex is explicit. Some language and knuckle-dragging type treatment of the slave women might turn off some people but I think it's smooth and sexy.

This story is a good length for audio, it has lot's of great description without dragging. The narration was decent with a pleasing, rich voice. I've heard better quality and performance in audiobooks but I've also heard much worse. The story is very engaging and I was easily immersed in the book.

I liked the extract and I have it on my list of stories to listen to.
