Set in the realm of the Half-Continent, a land of tri-corner hats and flintlock pistols, the Monster Blood Tattoo trilogy presents a world of predatory monsters, chemical potions, and surgically altered people. Foundling begins the journey of Rossamund, a boy with a girl's name, who is about to begin a dangerous life in the service of the Emperor. What starts as a simple journey is threatened by encounters with monsters - and people, who may be worse.

DM Cornish has created a world so immersive and detailed that all you want is more. He has created his own slang and introduces it throughout each of the three books so expertly. To top of the BRILLIANCE of his story, Humphrey Bower truly gives us one of the most stellar performances that I have ever heard. You will fall in love with Rossamund and all of the other characters that DM Cornish and Humphrey Bower make come alive.

The known world floats upon the Breath of God, a thick gas similar to Earth's oceans, with land masses accessible by airship. The largest of these land masses are ruled by the rival empires of Freya and Rosia. Magic is intrinsic to the functioning of these societies, and is even incorporated into their technological devices. But now a crucial scientific discovery has occurred that could destroy the balance of power - and change the empires forever.

and I am pretty bummed that Amazon isn't showing it available in audio format. I hope that the audiobook format is in the works, because I have been waiting for book two for quite some time. It's called Storm Riders (Dragon Brigade)

Orphan Rossamünd Bookchild has been sworn into the Emperor's service - his duty is to light the lamps along the Emperor's highways and protect travelers from the ferocious bogles that live in the wild. When a haughty young girl, a member of a suspiciously regarded society of all-women monster hunters is forced upon the lamplighters for training, Rossamünd is no longer the most despised soul around.

In medieval England, four children have been murdered, and the townsfolk blame their Jewish neighbors. The doctor chosen to investigate is a woman, Adelia. As she examines the victims and retraces their last steps, she must conceal her true identity in order to avoid accusations of witchcraft. Along the way, she's assisted by Sir Rowley Picot, a man with a personal stake in the investigation. A former Crusader knight, Rowley may be a needed friend - or the fiend for whom they are searching.

I've listened to this series a number of times, and can't wait for the next to be released. For anyone who is a lover of mysteries and of English history, I highly recommend Ariana Franklin's 'Mistress in the Art of Death' series. The books take place during the reign of King Henry II, shortly after the Thomas à Becket incident. Henry is a prominent character throughout the series. What's even better? The audiobooks are performed masterfully, one of my favorites!

I am a Pratchett fanatic, and own every recording that he has available, and I would pay ANYTHING to have this and Equal Rites re-recorded with Stephen Briggs as the narrator. Celia's performance is so mumbled and without inflection that I sincerely can barely understand her at all.
