"Interesting"
Probably
The book gives more information and a fuller understanding of what happened during this point in history. The term "Donner Party" has become a short hand for stupid decisions and cannibalism. This book shows that the situation really resulted from many tiny decisions and an unusually bad and early winter. A better understanding of the people involved as well as America during this period really draws you into the story. Truth really is stranger than fiction.
No, GREAT VOICE. Occasional pronunciation issues and a couple of inflections that lead you to believe he's NOT listening to the story he's reading. Neither is the director. I would listen to him again, he only made me wince 5 or 6 times.
"amazing character development."
YES! The book didn't answer every question but left enough for your imagination. This was some of the best writing that i have read (listened) in years. It was intricate but not flowery just beautifully written. WOW!
Well over 20 hours but really did want to listen as often as possible but was sorry when it was over.
"pretentious"
different narrator
didn't get that far, having trouble listening to it.
over played melodramatic "voices" made it not only hard to listen to but hard to differentiate the characters. Voices were were unrelated to the personality of the characters.
I have read this series in the past and loved it. The narrator made this a total waste of my money.
"Hhmmm"
ths story line is good
the ................pauses. I'm not sure whether they were technical or in the performance. I kept checking to see if i needed to charge my MP3 the pauses were so long between chapters and at other points.
Loved the voice and rhythm of the performance otherwise.
