I love the bones books. I have listened to them all. Like its tv counterpart, the down side; 1, the main character rarely or never has fulfilling relationships, or sex. 2. The stories have a similar plot. The good, the Author really draws you in. after reading one of her books, you feel that you are the main character, you feel that you have been where she has been, tasted what she has tasted and been hurt (without actually getting hurt). The science woven in is my favorite part, and much of it is probably the real kind of science, not sci fi. My other favorite part is the rich culture. The sometimes French phrases, or Spanish phrases, or the descriptions of a persons French sounding contrived. I generally only listen to a book once, but it has been about 6 months and I am lonely for a good novel, so, I am going to listen to it again starting today. Btw.. if you listen to it, you will be done in a day, because you will not be able to stop listening to it.
This is the best book I have ever listened to on audible.com. I listened to it twice in a row.
Scott setting the record in the ultra distance run in Death Valley
Jen Shelton, Bone Head Billy, The White Horse
after listening for a while, i cant help but drop the book, and hit the trail, and jog for hours. It made me laugh, cry and understand myself to a much deeper degree. We really are born to run.
if you run, you will love this book. if you dont, i think you will still find it great. I am biased. I run.
I really had a hard time staying with this one, especially for the first hour or so. I put it up for a month, and then came back to it. The up side, it has changed my life. It may have added ten or 20 years to it too. I have learned much from it, and I have been experimenting with the knowledge I have gained, and so far, the results are not tremendous… nothing like I hoped for, but unlike any other time in my life, there are indeed results. If only half of us took the Authors advice, I suspect we would not need a health care debate any more, nor would we have a financial crisis, but abounding excess of wealth.
You got to hear it. Perhaps the book is just as simple as it sounds. But in my mind, I think the lessens are about how to repair my finances. It is a Master telling me how to defeat the enemy, (financial problems). Perhaps to some, it is just “how to kick you ass”. Perhaps others, how to defeat the enemy (where the enemy is the trouble with [fill in the blank]. It is also a curios piece. It also is quick and uses economy when composing a phrase. A lot of bang for the buck.
A book written about the future from the past... not the future, but what the future was imagined to be 50 yrs ago. Writing books about the future is risky because once the future happens, then the book can become irrelevant. I suppose by accident he sort of predicted the use of ear buds, big screen tv's, atms, water proof watches and the demise of newspapers. It would have been thrilling if those things were still in our future, but now, we are so used to those things, the only wow factor is that he predicted them, but perhaps they were inevitable. Overall, I had to force myself to continue on with it. after the story though, there was an interview with the Author, and that was great. He is a wise old man.
