For anyone who has ever owned (or known) a German Shepherd Dog, they will understand when I say that this book is about 'pack'. The view of a dog about it's owner and it's environment is summed up brilliantly in this book about Maggie and her new handler Scott. Both of them suffer from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder or PTSD and this is a story that shows that obstacles can be got over with enough time and effort and love and affection. The way that Crais switches between Maggie, Scott's and other characters perspective adds another element to this story.
This is a story I will listen to over and over, just because it makes me laugh and cry and love my dogs all the more.
Unfortunately this recording is not so much abridged as butchered; the story that remains is disjointed, relationships between the characters become unclear, and the story stops just over half way through (in my printed copy there are 446 pages, the last events mentioned in the recording occur on page 234 - 47% of the original story ignored!)
This was my fisrt abridged recording from Audible, from now on I'll be downloading only unabridged books!
