"engrossing attention-getter"
Riveting, excellent character development. Engrossing with well-written literary story line. DI Pascoe and his family, relationships with friends and many questions I've had over the years are finally clearly delineated. Entertaining and satisfying, no loose ends, but an avenue for a continuation.
"a carrion death"
Very different and a real peak into another world. The ending was too fast and the well delineated characters had issues that remained unsolved. Good listen, a complex group of characters that you'll like
"hunting season"
As always Nevada Barr is entertaining. Good book to listen to while driving.
"Marked Man"
In the story, Marked man, the protagonist is presented as a not-so-glitzy, not-so successful, rather down-to-earth, but not-without-connections Philadelphia lawyer, with alot of spare time.
A rather incomprehensible map of Philly is given that would only appeal to others from that area. The somewhat predictable ending is logically devised, and the listener is left satisfied. Has some elements of classic style. The reader manages to convey excitement. The listener is swept along a wave of events that are as unlikely as they are charming. A lite listen with some good sequences, when character is not detracting.
