I just love this series! This one was funny, lots of surprises and heart wrenching at times. Most of all it made me happy. I hope Patrick Taylor keeps on writing and John Keating continues the excellent narrations. Kudos to you both.
This is mostly about Irish folklore. I expected more insight into Kinky. The title leads you to believe you will be reading an in depth background about the Irish country girl. It's misleading. It was boring for the most part and and way too long . The rest of the series is delightful. By all means listen to the other books and enjoy them as I did.
Lots and lots of uninteresting detail about Stone's new plane. Who cares? He jumps in and out of bed with any and all available women as usual. At least he spared us the graphic details this time. Of course they all find him irresistible and they are all drop dead gorgeous. Not much of a story, more about what exotic locations he travels to and what culinary delights he enjoys in what famous restaurants. Save your credit.
The narrator was excellent and made this an enjoyable listen. At times I had to back up and re-read some parts to get the "murders" straight. Overall a good read(for a sale).
I can't say enough good things about this delightful series. I'm so glad I found these wonderful books. You get to know the town and all the delightful people therein. I call them my" feel good" books. Use your credit and enjoy!
This may be my very favorite book of the series. I can't wait to start on the next one! Patrick Taylor is a wonderful writer and kudos to John Keating for his terrific narration. I highly recommend the entire series. You don't have to be Irish to enjoy these stories. They are fun.uplifting, and very enjoyable.
I waited so long for another Maisie Dobbs story and this one turned out to be so boring and convoluted. I couldn't wait for the ending. If you are a fan of the Maisie Dobbs stories, my advise is save your credit for another book by another author.
P.S. It pains me to write a negative review, I enjoyed most of the Jacqueline Winspear books so very much.
This was a heartwarming, funny, poignant, well written story. I will more than likely read it again in the future The narrator was terrific and brought all the characters to life for me. If you're looking for a humorous, feel good book (as I was) this will not disappoint!
Frankly, I almost didn't choose this newest "Stone Barrington" book .The reviews were not encouraging and I didn't like the last book in the series. However, I took a chance on this one and I enjoyed it more than I anticipated. Lots of twists, turns and unexpected exciting bits that held my interest right to the end. Tony Roberts did a great job of bringing all the characters to life as usual! I still wish the author would skip the politics and tone down the sex scenes. But that's just this woman' s opinion. If you're a fan of the series I would recommend you try this one.
Don't hesitate to use your credit on this heartwarming story. You don't have to be a dog lover to enjoy this true story set in WW ll. You don't even have to be a member of that generation to find it worthwhile and enjoyable..I believe high school and college students would find it "a good read". An honest look at the reality of those difficult times. You'll laugh, you'll cry,and most of all you won't want it to end.
