The characters did not seem at all real. Most were too good to be true . The whole story was hard to believe. I don't recommend this one .
A well written memoir of a young women who endures a terrible medical condition. She has chosen to write about her feelings and the illness itself in great detail. The narrator is excellent and adds much to the experience.
Overall this is a sad story and keeps getting more and more depressing. The lack of parenting skills attributed to the father made me cringe. Once again a father tries to be a friend instead of a parent. In real life this is a recipe for failure. What we come to learn about the mother is very disappointing as well. The only reason I didn't give it a lower rating is that oddly enough, a lot of this book was well written. Too bad the author didn't pick another subject.
Michael Connelly picked a good topic to write about and researched it well. The narration was excellent and brought the characters to life. Altogether a good read.
Once again the narrator saved the book. The story itself was far fetched and the characters were not that interesting or likable. Not worth a credit in my opinion.
A terrific novel based on fact. Not only entertaining but historically enlightening. A book for everyone to enjoy.
The premise of this story was flawed and the characters were self absorbed and most unlikable. I couldn't wait until it was over.
I wouldn't recommend this book to teens or adults. The story was full of contradictory messages and mixed signals. In the end (which I wish I hadn't read) this book is a real downer.
If I choose to read about man's inhumanity to man I have only to read a daily newspaper.
This story is written deliberately to shock and nauseate the reader.
Don't let the title scare you away. Thanks to Audible reader B.J. and her review, I tried this book and enjoyed it very much. Try it, you'll like it!
This is a beautifully written novel. The narrator brings each character to life brilliantly. From the very beginning I was hooked and it kept my interest right to the end. Don't miss this one!
