Timeline was a really cool combination of a sci fi thriller and a historical fiction novel. It combined Quantum Physics, Time travel, and Medieval Life very well. Though many of the plot twists were expected, Crichton is very good at keeping you interested in the story. The Characterization was not the best I have read. The only person that really changes in the story was Chris, who starts out as a Sissy and ends up Not-As-Sissyish. The other Characters are pretty flat. I think the most distasteful aspect of the book was the language. Though it was relegated to only a few characters, for those few characters it is fairly pervasive. Overall a good, at times education, and very entertaining listen.

The Twelfth Imam is a great book that blends the political and supernatural very well. It starts in the middle of the action in 1979 to set up the background of the main characters and give context for the religio-political climate in Iran. It then slows as the main characters are developed to the present day. If one were to find a place to lose interest in the book it would be at that point, but knowing that it is setting up the series helps to propel one through that into a very fast paced ending that sets the stage quite nicely for a sequel. Being a Christian myself, I found the differences illustrated between Islam and Christianity very thought-provoking. In conclusion, I am excited to read the continuation of this excellent plot.

Prophet had a great premise and a good start, but I wasn't real happy about the ending. I thought the themes it addressed were great: abortion, political corruption, and the influence of the media. But the excitement that I usually get from a Peretti story wasn't there for me. I would say his best are probably This Present Darkness, Peircing the Darkness, and Monster.
