I was on the fence about Mindy Kaling, but her bio was so charming she won me over!
As a Sedaris fan, I'm easy to please. All of his nonfiction essays (the first part of the book) were LOL funny, really engaging and entertaining. In the second half of the book he went into fictional essays, which were hit or miss.
Maybe I'm just too picky about humor, or something. This didn't have punchlines so much as "no really... it's true... isn't my life crazy?!" And the stories didn't go anywhere. I gave up after a few chapters.
