"It just didn't work for me"
I don't know if it was the awful narration (she has an irritating nasal sound) or the cruel angel storyline that just didn't work for me. I love Nalini Singh's Psy-changeling series and had very high hopes of liking this one as well. Sadly the story just didn't draw me in like her other books. If you like stories of Angels that are not so angelic then you will probably like this one. I would suggest listening to the sample narration first. I suspect you will either love it or hate it. I'm just happy I got this one on sale.
"Gotta love these Highlanders"
I'm not a huge fan of the Highland Romance novel but Maya Banks is one of my favorite authors so I had to take a chance. This one did not disappoint. It's your typical dominate/overprotective male hero and the young naive woman with lots of steamy sex thrown in the mix.
If you enjoy these Highland Romance books then you will definitely enjoy this one too. My only complaint is the all too quick ending. All the action just ended rather abruptly. Otherwise this was an enjoyable listen.
4 stars all around
"Sleeping Beauty Sci-Fi Edition"
This is a hard book for me to review. Although it is a very light and enjoyable listen it also has some depth and layers to it that will absolutely break your heart.
It’s a great story with tons of action and so many twists and turns that I didn’t see coming. Not to mention it has a killer ending. Yes folks, this book actually has an ending!
If like YA books like Cinder or Under the Never Sky then you will enjoy this one too.
4 stars
"Why isn't this book in your library????"
What a gem of a find! I don't read many books in a day (I'm a busy working mom) but I could not put this one down. It hooked me from the beginning and I just couldn't let it go.
As many other reviewers have said, if you enjoyed FSOG, Bared to You, Beautiful Bastard or If I Were You then you will enjoy this one too. It's the same formula but it doesn't feel like a rip-off. I'm not sure why this book isn't more popular but I'm glad I found this diamond in the rough.
I had no idea this was a trilogy but I'm looking forward to the 2nd and 3rd books!
4.5 stars for a Very Hot Listen!
"This fan girl enjoyed it...love triangles and all!"
Just wow! Again, I can't believe how much I enjoyed this book. Like the Selection there were so many bad reviews that I almost didn't get this book. So glad I didn't listen to the haters. This book was amazing. There were so many twists and turns and I enjoyed learning more about the world that Kiera Cass has created.
I can sympathize with those who hated the love triangle. It's frustrating, but isn't that what a love triangle is suppose to do? Otherwise who cares about it?? This is suppose to be about a young girl who is confused and has a huge decision to make under a stressful situation. I really felt sympathy for her character. And I can totally understand how confused she must be over Maxon and Aspen.
I don't get the negative reviews, but everyone is entitled to their opinion. If you enjoyed the Selection then I'm sure you will enjoy this one too. Just don't expect everything to be wrapped up and given to you with a bow on top. This is a trilogy and there is still more to come. This 2nd installment definitely left me wanting more and anticipating the final installment.
I enjoyed the narrator and the cover art is simply breathtaking.
Can't wait for the next book.
"Art, Wine and Erotica....I loved it!"
This book has been described as "mystery meets erotica" or "Fifty Shades meets Storage Wars". Either way I thought it was a great listen. Whenever I read/listen to erotic romance I always worry there will be little or no plot. That is not the case in this book. It had a great story (what would it be like to live someone else's life) and super HOT sex scenes!! (I mean very hot and intense!!!) You have to wait awhile for the sex, but that's okay because there is really good build-up to that point.
Just one note of caution....this is a trilogy and this first installment leaves us with a huge cliffhanger. I definitely thought this book was worth a credit. Excellent narration, great story and yummy sex.
"A love story that transcends all boundaries, true?"
I am speechless after reading this book! I've waited so long for Quinn and Blay's story and this one did not disappoint! I could go on and on but I can't say anymore then all the other positive reviewers. This was such a beautiful love story that just transcends all boundaries...it was perfection on paper. I'm so relieved that JR Ward took a chance on the subject matter and gave the fans what they wanted for so long.
This is why she is the master and I am happy to be the follower.
This book is amazing and so worth the time, money, credits, etc.
"I still love Sookie"
Even though this book didn't excite me as much as the previous installments I still love the world of Sookie Stackhouse and the crazy town of Bon Temps.
Even though this book felt more like a "filler" I will continue on with this series until the very end. After all, I have to know how it all ends.
Johanna Parker is an amazing narrator and I can't imagine anyone but her when it comes to Sookie. I'm glad to see Recorded Books kept her for the entire series.
This is a good listen for all the Sookie fans out there.
"Even a spinster can find love"
Lisa Kleypas is one of my favs! I never really cared for historical romance novels until I started reading her books. (Thank you Lisa)
This is one of my favorites (and my 2nd time listening). I love how the story of Amelia and Cam unfolds. They both have such a strong connection to one another and want to be together despite the obstacles (he’s half Roma and she’s considered a spinster) I absolutely loved Cam. He knew what he wanted and wasn’t afraid to go after it. Sigh…
This book has everything – good story, romance, mystery, humor (the Hathaways crack me up) and a HEA.
Definitely worth a credit, but grab it while it's on sale. You won't be disappointed.
"OMG! OMG! This is a naughty one!"
OMG! This story was a naughty one! Three sexy brothers all willing to share one woman. Let’s just say they weren’t playing bingo together in this remote wilderness cabin. Whoa… steam is still coming off my earphones.
First I have to say you must check reality at the door with this book. If I were in this situation I would have been running far away from these crazy cowboys…but thankfully this is fiction (not reality). They are a little overbearing and at times I found the premise of 3 brothers involved in a ménage a little creepy. I kept thinking the story would have been a little more “believable” if all the brothers were shifters. (sigh) All that aside, I still enjoyed the story.
If you’re looking for a Super-HOT erotic book then look no further. If you need a little more romance before the hot and heavy sex scenes begin then this might not be for you.
4.5 stars!
"Oh so cheesy"
I really wanted to like this book but it was just too cheesy for me. I thought the concept was good for a story-line but the execution just fell flat. It lacked any real character development and the whole thing just felt too unrealistic. A woman who isn’t even 30 yet is so desperate to have a child that she agrees to let the office man-whore get her pregnant. Really? These are successful and professional people who mostly act childish. I just couldn’t understand the motivation by any of these characters.
I enjoy light and fluffy romance books but this was just too clichéd and cheesy for me. Not to mention I did not enjoy the narrator which completely shocked me. This is the same narrator of “Sinners on Tour” but she was just off with this one.
Overall I can’t recommend this book.
BEWARE: This book has no real ending. It is a too-be-continued with book 2 – The Proposal.
