"Leave you ..?? DON'T LEAVE ME !!........"
SO sad this book was over so soon.......LOVED IT !!!!!
My first listen to the author, but he may be moved to my top 5. Sad parts, yes, but I felt guilty laughing at the way he talked about them. And it IS funny, after a while I got over my guilt and laughed all the way along. Felt good actually !!! Nice to know someone else thinks like I do, but he knows how to express it.
VERY entertaining....very poignant, very real, any adult can understand these emotions and must have similar experiences.
How much should I say without spoiling the story for the people reading any review?
Just know it's heartwarming, soul-searching, and entertaining material. So glad I took the chance to listen. I've never heard of this author, or this title, but will be listening to everything else from him that I can get my ears on.
5 ***** + 5*****
"Endurance"
This has to be one of the goriest, most violent books I've ever read. It's plot (?) is outRAGEOUSly impossible. As for me, that's what I expect for a book in this category. So if you like gory books, this a 5 star one. I took away a lot of points because of the narrator. I give him a minus 1 star. Awful. Maybe he's trying to sound like Will Patton, but he fails miserably. Awful voices. Annoying drawl.
Overall though, I still wanted to finish it to see how it ended. Not always true with a lot of books.
Gory, gross and gruesome. I cringed several times and I LOVE horror stories! Got what I paid for.
"Awful."
Wow. Wanted to like it....but got so tedious that I had to force myself to finish and this is basically a short book. Could have been a good story. But. It wasn't.
Like another reviewer said, narration is terrible. Besides the inappropriate accent on different words....sounded as if it had been recorded in a closet.
"Love him !!"
Ahhhhh, it feels so good to laugh that much. I loved it. His live readings are always so special, and that's what all of these are. I just wish it were about 10 times longer !!!! Such a tease you are, David. Be assured he has many other books, every one of which are great. He would be a cool friend to have....always laughing.
"Kathy Griffin"
WOW !!! Was that ever fun. Someone else wrote in their review that it was like having a casual conversation with her, and that's exactly right. Funny of course, but also touching, and, you realize she IS the hardest working woman in show business. Loved every minute of it.
Write another one Kathy !!!!
"Breath of Scandal"
The SCANDAL is that this title ends up in the topseller list. I understand the rush (for I did it too) to buy a newcomer, though the author is not.
Plot started out well, though quickly turned predictable. I'd even spoken aloud the words I thought would come next, and was correct. Another made for TV novel.
The parts of the story that are based in racially abhorrent times, are well understood. Deplorable, yes. This avenue though was overly emphasized.
The narrator's voice for females reminds me of Dustin Hoffman in the movie "Tootsie". Couldn't help thinking of that in the back of my mind.
Still wish there were a rating system with half stars, for I'd consider 3 1/2 here. Just not quite a 4.
"Dexter by Design"
Now the 1 episode I've seen makes more sense. Clever book, though almost sounds like it was written with TV in mind. A few times it was predictable, sometimes a bit too repetitive, but many giggles as I listened. Didn't answer a few obvious questions, but, just go with the flow. One other character's voice reminds me of Puddy, Elaine's boyfriend, from Seinfeld. I always loved him anyway. Dark, but sarcastic humor. I enjoyed it.
"I'm sorry....."
I wanted to like it, but this story plays out like a bad made-for-tv movie...predictable....
(Sorry author)Worst narrator for THIS story ever, something else for her may be a better choice.
If she says the word "inordinately" one more time...I may have an inordinately strong dislike for the story. Wish we could rate with 1/2 stars, for 2 1/2 stars is a more appropriate rating.
"Pay attention"
Make sure you can pay full attention to the last third, otherwise, at least make sure to hear the end. TOTALLY set up for a sequel, which I would/will buy. Could also imagine a movie, to some degree just like the book.
Technical, yes, but the gyst of it is explained, and one might even learn a few things....
I'm not quite a "nube", (new computer person with basic knowledge only)....but I think I know just enough to get myself into trouble. ha
VERY imaginative plot, quite thought provoking.
Which reminds me, I think I need to check the security level on my laptop....
"Bloodsucking FUN!"
OK, I know some of you don't want to "fall" for the humor, but if you'll let yourself go, this book is SO funny. NOT every book is a documentary. If all books were all true, we'd be....non-existent. Give it a try. So clever. So funny. Many laugh-out-loud moments, as many others have said. Very engaging, I listened to it all as quickly as feasible. Enjoyable, and will listen to the others in the same series soon. Narrator SUSAN BENNETT IS AWESOME, and should be booked for work her entire career! She MORE than made it great. Loved her, and she brought more mental visions with the words than expected.
Am I right, people that've heard this?
Loved it, and I listen to books ALL day long, and I love horror. Even though this wasn't scary per se, it dealt with those ideas, which were more than enough for a good time. You like funny? You like vampires? Get this book. DON'T expect Lestat. Though......
