The radio dramatisation of The Hobbit became a classic when it was first broadcast on BBC Radio 4 in 1968 and it continues to delight today. Tolkien's famous saga, the prelude to the Lord of the Rings, has all the ingredients of fantasy and adventure: dwarves, elves, goblins and trolls, a fearsome dragon, a great wizard, a perilous quest, and a dramatic climax.

What would have made The Hobbit (Dramatised) better?

I did not realize this was dramatised when I selected it. The voices - especially that of Gandalf was just wrong. Voices blended together leaving me lost and confused. I'm going to have to 'read' a narrated (which is what I wanted) version before I can understand anything that happened in this book.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of the narrator?

    a narrator rather than dramatised.
