Came across this series by accident when on sale, and really enjoy it. Not really into the whole paranormal thing usually, but do enjoy the supernatural, time travel, etc parts of these stories. Don't understand complaints about this narrator, he does a fabulous job. Unless you have a male and female narrator performing together, you are going to have a man doing female voices, or female doing male. Have listened to others by this narrator and think he is great. I will definitely keep getting the books in this series.
Have to wonder as others have, why there were rave reviews for this book. It was very predictable, not even believable in parts. The narrator was good except I didn't care for the voice she gave the heroine. Will not listen to others in the series and definitely not spend a credit on them.
This was a surprisingly fun book with interesting characters and plot twists. Got it for a sale price, will definitely listen to the next in the series. Had not listened to any by this author. Really liked the humor infused in the scenes, the 'bard' persona assumed by the hero, and the way he saw through to the real personality of the heroine. Guess I'm not as picky as some listeners with this narrator. I thought he was fine, have heard some better but overall I think he did a decent job.
Thoroughly enjoyed this last book in the series. Had all the details I appreciated from the first one. Cole was one of my favorites in this family from the start. The plot was interesting and had some good twists. Would definitely recommend listening to the previous two in the series first. The narrator was pretty good. I know other reviewers didn't like him much, and I agree I didn't like his voice for Daniel. But overall it did not ruin the series for me.
These three short stories are fun, really need to listen to the first book in the series before listening to these. Otherwise you miss many of the details and don't understand the story line. I did miss the development of the characters that was present in the first one. But worth the listen and a good continuation of the series.
Even though the author obviously used some artistic creativity with the history, this story really makes you think about women, their roles in society, and how far we have come. The romance is great, love Sebastian, his personality, how he treat Violet, and the interaction between these two. There is so much to Violet and her history, her accomplishments, and what women went through before any academic freedom was available. Even with that serious side, this is a fun book and a great listen. As one of those 'smart girls' who has raised three smart girls, I could really relate to this character. I only hope history did have some good outcomes like this story, although I imagine more of the outcomes were lost names and faces of women who worked really hard. As usual this narrator is superb. I love this series, all the characters are unique and I can't wait for the next one to come out.
Couldn't wait for this one to come out, as I loved the first one in this series. This did not disappoint. Freddy, what can you say, you have to love him, the class clown with much deeper aspects to his personality than he ever lets on. So much fun in this book, and the chinese experimental swimming pigs, they just add to the enjoyment. I only hope the third installment doesn't take as long.
Had a hard time getting into this story, I think the plot was not quite as interesting at first and therefore did not captivate me as much as previous books from this author. There was still good dialog, and I enjoyed the second half more than the first. The brother was clueless and that added humor to the whole thing. Overall just not as good as some others I've recently enjoyed by this author.
This is my third by this author in the last 2 weeks, it's addictive. This narrator really did an excellent job with each voice, so the dialog was even better. The french accent was great, loved the schemes of the two women. The plot twists kept it interesting, overall completely entertaining. Highly recommend if you like historical romance. Nothing steamy here, just lots of wit and humor.
Love love love this book, the dialog is fabulous. How can you not love 'the grand Sophy'. I don't remember a book when I've laughed out loud so much. Sophy is everything I would want to have been, if I had been born in that era. She takes the town by storm. Her schemes are so funny I could just see her mind working. The narration was great also. I am hooked on these older books by Heyer and will be looking for more.
Somehow came across this author on audible, and after reading some reviews gave it a shot. Oh my, so funny, different from a lot of the romances I love to listen to. Older style of novel, but the dialog is so great. Just love everything about this book, the naughty child, the stern but loving uncle, the banter is wonderful. Laughed out loud many times. Can't wait to listen to more by Georgette Heyer. And the narration, wonderful also.
