Ember Morrow was promised to the knights of Conatus at birth, her life traded for her mother's. So when the horsemen come for her, soon after her 16th birthday, Ember's not surprised. What does surprise her, though, is the magic the knights wield, the demons they hunt, and the feelings she has for Barrow Hess, the powerful man she serves. When the knights realize that one among them is dabbling in dark magic, danger heightens and Ember must choose whether to follow the path to darkness or to escape the order and pledge her life to destroying her fellow knights.

What made the experience of listening to Rift the most enjoyable?

    I like Andrea Cremer's stories.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Sile Bermingham?

The girl who did the first three, Rebecca Lowman.

    Any additional comments?

Sile Bermingham does a good job of reading, it's a good pace. However, she seems to have a list, which combined with her accent sort of makes it seem the looney toon, Slyvester the cat is reading the book. It's incredibly distracting.

  • The Dunwich Horror (Dramatized)

Ah, the sweet, sweet singing of the whip-poor-wills. Surely one of the most innocent, purest bird songs one can know, plaintive and perfect in the clean morning light. Unless, of course, you happen to live near the decayed New England village of Dunwich, have seen the mad fires blazing from the ancient stone circles atop Sentinel Mountain, and remember the horrible events of 70 years ago.

What did you love best about The Dunwich Horror (Dramatized)?

I liked that it wasn't very long. Quick listen.

What did you like best about this story?

Lovecraft paints amazing and horrifying pictures with his writing.

What aspect of the narrators’s performance would you have changed?

I knew it was a performance, but I didn't really enjoy it as much as I should have. I just think I prefer a straight reading to the dramatization.
