When Barry Fairweather dies unexpectedly in his early 40s, the little town of Pagford is left in shock. Pagford is, seemingly, an English idyll, with a cobbled market square and an ancient abbey, but what lies behind the pretty façade is a town at war. Rich at war with poor, teenagers at war with their parents, wives at war with their husbands, teachers at war with their pupils.... Pagford is not what it at first seems. And the empty seat left by Barry on the town's council soon becomes the catalyst for the biggest war the town has yet seen.

What about Tom Hollander’s performance did you like?

I think that he did a great job creating all the characters.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

    The entire ending.

Jake Sullivan is a licensed private eye with a seriously hardboiled attitude. He also possesses raw magical talent and the ability to make objects in his vicinity light as a feather or as heavy as depleted uranium, all with a magical thought. It's no wonder the G-men turn to Jake when they need someoneto go after a suspected killer who has been knocking off banks in a magic-enhanced crime spree.

I liked the idea behind the magic, and the setting was really interesting. But the ending didn't quite work for me. I didn't like the narrator so much either. His voice for the main character sounded too much like Forest Gump.

A not-so-friendly wager between the rival companies turns into a race to see who can bag the mysterious creature first. Only there is far more to this particular case than meets the eye, and as Hunters fall prey to their worst nightmares, Owen Zastava Pitt and the staff of Monster Hunter International have to stop an ancient god from turning Sin City into a literal hell on earth.

This was really good. But it wasn't able to match the "epicness" of the second book. Also some of the characters i really enjoyed from the 3rd book were underused. I felt that the ending felt really rushed. I don't really understand why each book in the series is getting shorter and shorter.

Earl Harbinger may be the leader of Monster Hunter International, but he's also got a secret. Nearly a century ago, Earl was cursed to be a werewolf. When Earl receives word that one of his oldest foes, a legendarily vicious werewolf that worked for the KGB, has mysteriously appeared in the remote woods of Michigan, he decides to take care of some unfinished business.

This installment follows a a very different form from the previous books, and i actually preferred it. I was somewhat disappointed that the author returned to 1st person in the next book in the series.
As with each title in this series, this was a very fun read. While not quite as epic in scope as the second book, it does a much better job flushing out some of the background characters.
I would highly recommend this one.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, and I already have. It's a fun and action paced series.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Monster Hunter Vendetta?

There is a part near the middle of the book where a place is attacked in a all-out undead assault, it was really awesome. The sheer creativity of the author in coming up with creatures was great.

Have you listened to any of Oliver Wyman’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have only heard the first in this series, so I can't really compare.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, I ended up listening to it nearly all the time.

Where does Monster Hunter International rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It's in the bottom half, but at the top of that half.

Would you be willing to try another book from Larry Correia? Why or why not?

I have already bought the rest of the series that is out so far. They are fun books, and he has a very good imagination. It's a great series for adults with childish imaginations.

What does Oliver Wyman bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He creates a distinct sound with each character that really brings them to life.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Several times the books made me hold my breath in anticipation, and had some impressive action set pieces.

This is a great book for people who do not have a deep background in business. I am an educator, and I am looking into starting my own private school, and this book proved incredibly useful to me. I was able to learn all the basics I need to have the confidence to start my own business.
My only complaint is that every once a while, there would be repeated lines.

In the near future, at a moment no one will notice, all the dazzling technology that runs our world will unite and turn against us. Taking on the persona of a shy human boy, a childlike but massively powerful artificial intelligence known as Archos comes online and assumes control over the global network of machines that regulate everything from transportation to utilities, defense and communication. In the months leading up to this, sporadic glitches are noticed by a handful of unconnected humans - a single mother, a lonely Japanese bachelor, and an isolated U.S. soldier....

Would you try another book from Daniel H. Wilson and/or Mike Chamberlain?

Not in this method of writing, they took what made WWZ an interesting and unique novel, stripped it and just wrote a multi-perspective novel.

What was most disappointing about Daniel H. Wilson’s story?

It never really made good on its premises. The final battle was terribly anti-climactic and I didn't like the structure.

What about Mike Chamberlain’s performance did you like?

He captured all the characters well, and did a good job performing a very diverse cast.

Could you see Robopocalypse being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

I already know it will be a movie, I can see it being just as average as the book, with a very average cast.

    Any additional comments?

If you liked this style I would suggest World War Z.
