He's a self-described beach bum who won his houseboat in a card game. He's also a knight errant who's wary of credit cards, retirement benefits, political parties, mortgages, and television. He only works when his cash runs out, and his rule is simple: he'll help you find whatever was taken from you, as long as he can keep half.

    Any additional comments?

I am so glad to be able to listen to the Travis McGee books. I own each and every one of them in hardback, mostly first editions, and NEVER lend them to anyone. I reread them every decade or so and enjoy the each time. I see they are also available for Kindle, so a whole new generation will be introduced to Travis, Meyer and the whole slew of characters via Audible or Kindle. Thank you for offering them.

Miss Dorothea Darent has no intention of ever getting married, certainly not to a rogue such as the Marquis of Hazelmere. A disreputable scoundrel, he is captivated when they meet by chance and is determined to win her heart, even while she's busy dazzling the rest of London society. Now Dorothea has a choice to make: stick with her plan to remain a respectable spinster, or run into the arms of her dashing stranger.

I have enjoyed other books by this author, but this one is ploddingly slow and the narrator makes it ten times worse. I got through the first half and am probably not going to finish it.
