I thought Chance McKenzie was one of my favorite heros. Linda makes her characters so true to life. The plot was great and kept me reading well into the night to finish and see the outcome. I only hope this is NOT the end of the McKenzie family. I especially like the ending when everyone gets to meet with everyone else in the McKenzie family and how they all help each other in time of need. I would be hard pressed to pick a favorite from this series. I love them all.
I don't usually like to write reviews but I felt it only fair to the author that I do so. I kept skipping over this book and reading other ones until I finally decided it was time. Now I can't wait to read the second book. This book had so many twist and turns and a great ending that I really didn't want it to end. I enjoyed the fact that the author took time to explain the why and how of this series.
I have listened to a lot of books and enjoyed most but this book has to be at the top of my list. It isn't what one would expect in a romance book. It has a wonderful plot and totally different in all aspects. Both characters are easy to like and fun to try to guess what each one will do next. Well worth a credit. I hope audible can acquire some more of her books.
I half expected this book to be like a lot like all of the other historical romance books. I was pleasantly surprised to find it very different. Adding the children to the story made it different and a great joy. They were as fun as the main characters were wonderful. I loved the book from beginning to end. The mystery in the book was an added pleasure and kept me guessing.
This is not one of my favorites by LK but it is really hard to pick a bad one. It was confusing in parts but ended well. I am glad I started with one of her other books.
I just recently found Lisa Jackson and have read both of her cowboy books(Secrets & Lies) and loved them both. The storylines were both entertaining and with likeable heros and heroines. I look forward to reading more of her books.
I thought this was an excellent book. I have found very few books by this author that I didn't like and this was one of her best.
I WAS LOOKING FOR SOMETHING DIFFERENT AND FOUND THE STORYLINE IN THIS STORY BROUGHT THE BEST OF A GOOD ROMANCE AND SUSPENCE TOGETHER.
THIS IS THE FIRST OF THE MACKENZIE BOOKS THAT FELL A LITTLE SHORT IN MOST AREAS. I AM NOT SURE WHAT WAS MISSING. IT WAS GOOD BUT NOT ONE I WOULD READ AGAIN REAL SOON LIKE I WOULD THE OTHER MACKENZIE BOOKS. LINDA HOWARD IS STILL ONE OF MY TOP AUTHORS AND I HAVE FOUND VERY FEW THAT I WOULDN'T READ OVER & OVER. THIS ONE JUST DIDN'T HAVE THE SIZZLE THE OTHER ONES DID. I AM GLAD IT ENDED WITH FAMILY BECAUSE THAT IS ALWAYS GOOD.
I AM A BOOK JUNKIE AND THIS ONE IS AS GOOD AS IT GETS. SHE ALWAYS PROVES HERSELF AS A GREAT WRITER.
