Wonderful blend of Lovecraft and spy novel. Be sure and read the first too books in this series, The Atrocity Archives and The Jennifer Morgue.
I read other reviews, and they all round like spoiled children. John Glover is not James Marsters. They have different voices and different styles of reading. They are both talented and capable actors and narrators. Audible says a scheduling conflict is what caused the change in readers. So be it. I just finished the book. Glover did a great job reading it. And besides, ITS JIM BUTCHER writing about HARRY DRESDEN in the first book since the largest cliffhanger in the series. I am grateful that Audible went to the trouble of finding a replacement in order to get the book out on time. I don't have the time to sit and read, that's why I pay for this service. Focus on the story if you don't like the narrator or read the book yourself.
I was upset when I found out Marsters wasn't going to be the narrator, but it didn't ruin the book for me, or my wife. Consider Glover as a guest or a substitute teacher. He is not a hack, that much is plain if actually listen to the entire performance. And the work that went into that performance by all parties involved deserves recognition, respect, and courtesy.
Thank yous to Jim Butcher for a great book, and Audible and John Golver for a great performance. I look forward to the return of James Marsters in the books to come.
