Dellarobia Turnbow is a restless farm wife who gave up her own plans when she accidentally became pregnant at 17. Now, after a decade of domestic disharmony on a failing farm, she encounters a shocking sight: a silent, forested valley filled with what looks like a lake of fire. She can only understand it as a cautionary miracle, but it sparks a raft of other explanations from scientists, religious leaders, and the media.

What disappointed you about Flight Behavior?

This story went nowhere and took forever to get there! If you like pointless detail that adds nothing to the story, this is your book!

What was most disappointing about Barbara Kingsolver’s story?

The only reason we listened to the whole story was because we could not believe a book could be totally worthless, but we were wrong.

Would you be willing to try another one of Barbara Kingsolver’s performances?

    NEVER

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Flight Behavior?

    All!!

Watching snow melt is far more enjoyable and better evidence of global warming!

Already cited on the floor of Congress and discussed in the corridors of the Pentagon as a book all Americans should read, One Second After is the story of a war scenario that could become all too terrifyingly real. Based upon a real weapon - the Electro Magnetic Pulse (EMP) - which may already be in the hands of our enemies, it is a truly realistic look at the awesome power of a weapon that can destroy the entire United States.

What did you love best about One Second After?

It is totally plausable that this could happen and then everything we take for granted is gone.

What was one of the most memorable moments of One Second After?

Not really a moment , but the entire book is shocking and seeminly realistic display of how fast society can degrade when survival is all we have to hope for.

    Any additional comments?

Exellent story and performance. A book that I really wanted to stop reading but could not. It still haunts me when I think about it!

Dave Robicheaux returns in another Bayou adventure, this one more gruesome and gut-wrenching than any that have come before. Hurricane Katrina has ravaged New Orleans, leaving the streets and buildings flooded and the city awash with opportunists, looters, and vicious criminals. There is no order, no law. Police are shooting randomly at innocent people, prison guards have abandoned their posts, and bodies float through the streets and hang from trees.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

The story was entertaining right up to the last chapter, then it's like the author had reached his quota for words and simply ended it. Kind of left me cold!

Has The Tin Roof Blowdown turned you off from other books in this genre?

    No

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

    No

    Any additional comments?

Like I said earlier the story was good but the ending was just flat. Made me feel like I wasted my time.
